BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Marengo Academy girls advance to Class A semifinals


MONTGOMERY | Andrea Edmonds scored 17 points and pulled down 12 rebounds Wednesday as the Marengo Academy girls basketball team defeated Cornerstone Academy 52-21 in the quarterfinal round of the AISA, Class A tournament at Huntingdon College.

Chandler Stenz had 11 points and six assists for the Longhorns.

Marengo Academy (25-0) will play in the semifinals next Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Huntingdon College against Sparta Academy.

 

Tuscaloosa Christian 55, Tabernacle Christian41

Sidney Sumerall was 4-for-4 from 3-point range, scoring 17 points Tuesday night in Tuscaloosa Christian’s win. Daniel Hunter scored 14 points and David Pearce scored 10 points.

John White scored 21 points for Tabernacle Christian.

Tuscaloosa Christian (6-11) will travel to Athens on Friday to play Lindsay-Lane Christian.

 

Hale County 51, Brookwood 50

MOUNDVILLE | Senior Wyman King scored 14 points and had five assists Tuesday night for Hale County. Senior Bobby Fields scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds.

Brookwood’s Cody Gaither scored 16 points and Zach Lee scored 13 points.

Hale County (11-14) will travel on Friday to Aliceville.
