BOYS ROUNDUP: Northridge wins in overtime


Northridge’s first win of the season game in dramatic style Saturday, an 84-71 double-overtime home win against Sipsey Valley in high school basketball action.

Northridge (1-20) saved the game twice, first at the end of regulation when Demarcus Jernigan connected on a 3-point buzzer-beater from the corner as time expired to tie the game at 61 and send it into overtime. Zavier Jackson played hero in the final 15 seconds of overtime with a 3-pointer to tie it at 69 and send it into a second overtime, which the Jaguars dominated.

Marquise Gray scored a career-high 30 points to go with 11 rebounds. Jernigan ended the game with 17 points. Desharis Dobbins scored 14 and Tre Leatherwood 11.

Jamarius Leatherwood led Sipsey Valley with 29 points. Rasheed Worrell scored 21 and Isaiah Blackmon had 12.

Northridge will host Bessemer City on Tuesday.

 

Hillcrest 58, Northridge 52

On Friday, Jarad Pruitt scored 17 points and Rayshawn Tubbs 15 in Hillcrest’s win.

Demarcus Jernigan scored 12 and Graham Limbaugh 11 for Northridge.
