Jermarcus Brown set a school record Friday when the Pickens County Tornadoes advanced in the AHSAA Class 1A playoffs.

Brown rushed for 259 yards on 23 carries and scored five touchdowns in a 38-22 victory over Addison. Brown ran for four touchdowns, setting a school record with 44 in a single season. The previous best was 42.

Brown’s rushing touchdowns covered 52, 11, 29 and 47 yards. He also caught a 3-yard scoring pass from Devonte’ Simon.

For his efforts, Brown has been chosen as The Tuscaloosa News High School Player of the Week.

Several other players had standout performances to garner honorable mention:

Terrance Sanders of Linden rushed for 153 yards on 25 carries and scored five touchdowns in a 42-16 win over McKenzie. Sanders scored his first touchdown on a 26-yard run. Linden overcame a 16-15 deficit with 27 unanswered points as Sanders scored on runs of 3, 8, 3 and 5 yards.

Prentiss McCuiston of Linden rushed for 197 yards on 32 carries in the win over McKenzie.

T.J. Pratt of Hubbertville rushed for 249 yards on 19 carries and scored on runs of 38 and 10 yards in a 50-14 win over Falkville.

Shade Pritchett of Marengo Academy caught touchdown passes of 31 and 61 yards and scored on a 7-yard run in a 44-13 win over Abbeville Christian.

Hayden Huckabee of Marengo Academy rushed for 139 yards on 10 carries, scored on a 93-yard kickoff return and a 50-yard run and threw a touchdown pass in the win over Abbeville Christian.

Hayden Hall of Marengo Academy had 15 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the win over Abbeville Christian.

Dallas Cockerham of Lamar County rushed for 225 yards on 40 carries and scored four touchdowns in a 40-34 loss to Mobile Christian. Cockerham scored on runs of 8, 1, 4 and 12 yards.

Weston Bonner of Berry scored on runs of 25 and 1 yards and threw a 24-yard touchdown pass in a 36-8 win over R.A. Hubbard.

Terrance “Tank” Hollingsworth of Berry ran for 71 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 40 yards in the win over R.A. Hubbard.
