ROUNDUP: Pleasant Grove crushes winless Paul W. Bryant


PLEASANT GROVE | The Paul W. Bryant Stampede remained winless as they suffered a 47-7 loss to the Pleasant Grove Spartans Friday night in a Class 5A, Region 5 match-up.

Cornelius Lee completed 12-of-36 passes for 150 yards and one touchdown to lead the Stampede. He also rushed for 87 yards on nine carries.

Lee threw his scoring pass in the second quarter when he connected with Tionne Wilder on a 33-yard touchdown.

Paul W. Bryant (0-9, 0-7) finishes its season Thursday night at Northridge.

Aliceville 56,

Francis Marion 0

ALICEVILLE | Joe Robinson caught two touchdown passes and Christopher Crowell rushed for two touchdowns as the Aliceville Yellow Jackets shut out Francis Marion in a Class 2A, Region 4 game.

Robinson scored on passes of 38 and 29 yards from Santiago Taylor, while Crowell scored on runs of 1 and 42 yards.

Taylor completed 8-of-9 passes for 177 yards.

Stephon Dunner, Jaterrius Steele, Darion Manning and Qydarius Matthews each had a touchdown run for the Yellow Jackets.

Qua'Darius Hinton led Aliceville defense with nine tackles.

Aliceville (6-3, 6-1) hosts Greene County next Friday.

Greensboro 20,

Greene County 14

GREENSBORO | Cedric Holifield scored the game-winning touchdown on a 37-yard run in the fourth quarter as the Greensboro Raiders edged the Greene County Tigers.

Holifield finished with a game-high 120 yards rushing on 16 carries.

Ahmad Bennet scored the first two Greensboro touchdowns on runs of 2 and 7 yards.

Bennet also finished with 10 tackles and eight assists on defense.

Greensboro (3-6 overall, 3-4 Class 3A, Region 3) travels to West Blocton next Friday, while Greene County (1-8, 1-6) travels to Aliceville.

Tuscaloosa Academy 47,

Kingwood Christian 0

ALABASTER | Tuscaloosa Academy rolled to a 40-0 lead by halftime, with Austin Menard throwing for one score and running for another. Dustin Jenkins caught a touchdown pass from Menard and ran for another score.

Keonte Chambers had two rushing touchdowns for the Knights.

Torrence Brown and Markell Speights also ran for touchdowns for TA.

Kingwood Christian fell to 7-2.

Tuscaloosa Academy (7-2) will close out the season next Thursday at Monroe Academy.

Billingsley 66,

Holy Spirit 6

BILLINGSLEY | Tommy Williams and Rashaud Caver scored two touchdowns each to help the Billingsley Bears (7-2 overall, 5-2 Class 1A, Region 3) beat the Titans.

Williams finished with six carries for 106 yards.

Chase Lake threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Blake Myer for Holy Spirit.

Jake Smith led Holy Spirit in rushing with 47 yards on nine carries.

Holy Spirit (1-8, 0-7) will visit Fayetteville next Friday to close out the season.

Patrician Academy 50,

Pickens Academy 31

BUTLER | Josh Lewis rushed for 288 yards and three touchdowns but it wasn't enough as the Pickens Academy Pirates fell to Patrician Academy.

Chance Britt followed Lewis with 67 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

Daniel Cameron led the Pirates on defense with six tackles, while Ryan Harcrow had five.

Pickens Academy (7-2) hosts Clarke Prep next Friday.

Linden 56,

Fruitdale 0

FRUITDALE | Terrance Sanders scored four touchdowns as the Linden Patriots finished unbeaten in Class 1A, Region 1 play with a lopsided victory over the Fruitdale Pirates.

Sanders, who rushed for a team-high 101 yards, scored on runs of 2, 11, 2 and 18 yards.

Dewayne Charleston scored on a 48-yard run and a 40-yard pass from Christian Robinson for Linden.

The Patriots also had touchdowns from Prentiss McCuiston and Henry Lee.

Chris Rogers led the Patriots on defense with 12 tackles.

Linden (7-2, 7-0) travels to Southern Choctaw next Friday.

Greenville 35,

Sumter Central 0

YORK | The Sumter Central Jaguars finished winless in Class 5A, Region 7 play after they suffered a shutout loss to the Greenville Tigers.

Sumter Central (1-8, 0-7) finishes its season Thursday at McGill-Toolen.

Escambia Academy 40,

Southern Academy 0

GREENSBORO | Hayden Drake made 12 total tackles for Southern Academy and recovered a fumble. Chase Porter made nine stops for the Cougars.

Southern Academy (2-7) hosts Marengo Academy next Friday to close out the season.
