PLAYER OF THE WEEK: A.J. Travis, Northside

A.J. Travis might have known on Thursday night what he would do on Friday night.

Travis, the leading rusher for the Northside Rams, said he dreamed about having a “big night” in a Class 3A, Region 3 showdown with Sipsey Valley.

Travis rushed for 277 yards on 33 carries and scored three touchdowns in Northside’s 42-35 victory. Travis helped the Rams finish with 401 rushing yards and 24 first downs. For his efforts, Travis earned High School Football Player of the Week honors from The Tuscaloosa News.

Several other players had standout performances to garner honorable mention:

Terrance Hollingsworth of Berry gained 415 all-purpose yards, 273 rushing and 142 passing, and scored three touchdowns in a 34-26 win over Brilliant. Hollingsworth also had six tackles and an interception.

Garret Lewis of Sipsey Valley completed 12 of 16 passes for 200 yards and four touchdowns in the loss to Northside.

Jermarcus Brown of Pickens County scored on runs of 22 and 40 yards, caught a 40-yard touchdown pass and scored on an 80-yard kickoff return in a 70-6 win over Parrish.

Devonte’ Simon of Pickens County threw for 222 yards and thee touchdowns and scored on a 1-yard run in the win over Parrish.

T.J. Lockett of Bibb County ran for two touchdowns and passed for two in a 50-27 win over Dora.

Santiago Taylor of Aliceville compled 10 of 14 passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns in a 56-33 win over Lamar County.

Seth Franks of Tuscaloosa County threw a touchdown pass and ran for two scores in a 29-17 win over Northridge.

Drew Guy of Fayette County completed 7 of 7 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns in a 39-20 win over Greene County.

T.J. Pratt of Hubbertville rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown in a 27-0 win over South Lamar.

Deontay White of Akron rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns in a 26-20 win over Sunshine.

Josh Lewis of Pickens Academy rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns in a 13-0 victory over Jackson Academy.

Terrance Sanders of Linden rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown in a 30-12 win over A.L. Johnson

Christien Rogers of Linden recorded 13 tackles in the win over A.L. Johnson.

Nathan Young of Hubbertville had 10 tackles, including three for losses, in the win over South Lamar.

Collin Sheffield of Marengo Academy had eight tackles in a 58-6 win over Meadowview Christian.

Weston Bonner of Berry had 11 tackles and scored three touchdowns in  the win over Brilliant.
