Player of the Week: Seth Franks, Tuscaloosa County

Seth Franks didn’t get to play four quarters Friday night, but he didn’t have to.

Franks, a junior quarterback, threw four touchdown passes — all in the first quarter — as the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats routed Jackson-Olin 41-7. TCHS gained 266 yards and scored 41 points in the first quarter. Franks, who didn’t play in the second half, completed 6 of 7 passes for 175 yards. For his efforts, Franks earned High School Football Player of the Week honors from The Tuscaloosa News.

Several other players had standout performances to garner honorable mention:

Berry senior Terrance “Tank” Hollingsworth rushed for 345 yards on 27 carries and scored three touchdowns as the Wildcats defeated Marion County 48-34. Hollingsworth made nine tackles and had an interception.

Winfield running back Xavier McCollum ran for 218 yards on 16 carries and scored four touchdowns in a 50-19 win over Winston County.

American Christian Academy quarterback Austin Mohlenbrok threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores in a 49-14 win over Greene County.

Brookwood’s Devonta Jenkins completed 13 of 19 passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns in a 29-27 win over Fairfield.

Northside’s A.J. Travis ran for 143 yards and three touchdowns in a 46-0 win over Holt.

Aliceville’s Chris Crowell ran for two scores and caught a touchdown pass in a 22-13 win over Hale County.

Pickens Academy’s Josh Lewis ran for three touchdowns and passed for another in a 35-13 win over Sumter Academy. Lewis rushed for 116 yards and threw for 140. He had 10 tackles and recovered a fumble.

Bibb County quarterback T.J. Lockett ran for two touchdowns and threw for two scores in a 47-6 win over Carbon Hill. Lockett rushed for 109 yards and threw for 89.

Demopolis’ Roderick Davis caught a touchdown pass and ran for two scores in a 31-14 win over Citronelle.

Lamar County quarterback Dallas Cockerham rushed for 181 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-19 win over Oakman.

Linden’s Prentiss McCuiston scored three touchdowns in a 60-8 win over J.U. Blacksher.

Fayette County’s Will Redmond caught two touchdown passes and intercepted three passes in a 27-12 win over Greensboro.

Pickens County’s Devonte Simon threw two touchdown passes and scored on a 45-yard run in a 51-7 win over South Lamar.
