Sipsey Valley at Central

Breakdown: Central won 23-7 last year. Vincent Davis threw two touchdown passes to Leonard Tyree. David Robinson intercepted two passes, recovered a fumble and kicked a field goal. Central was held to 69 yards rushing but threw for 306. Sipsey Valley had 143 yards rushing and 43 passing.

Gordo at Aliceville

Breakdown: Lane Moss, now a senior, threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score in Gordo’s 38-21 win over the Yellow Jackets last year. Aliceville’s Anfernee Mullins, a junior defensive end, recorded 14 sacks in 2012. Linebackers Marquesze Marshall and Jakari Garner each had more than 100 tackles.

Winfield at Brilliant

Breakdown: David McKinney, formerly at Gordo, debuts as Winfield’s new coach. Xavier McCollum and Robby Boyd will be running backs and Nathan Dean and Jordan Hunt will be quarterbacks in McKinney’s offensive system. McCollum, a quarterback last season, rushed for 1,175 yards and 18 touchdowns. Winfield won 26-0 last year.

South Choctaw Academy at Marengo Academy

Breakdown: Marengo Academy, which won 13-6 last year, has Hayden Huckabee returning as a sophomore running back. Huckabee gained 1,195 yards and scored 17 touchdowns as a freshman. Josh Holifield ran for 987 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. Shade Pritchett, who caught 49 passes for 860 yards, scored nine touchdowns. Wyatt Hale and Tyler Barkley are quarterback candidates.

Sulligent at Hamilton

Breakdown:Hamilton won 27-7 last year. Jamar Plant is expected to be a featured running back for Sulligent. Other prospects include Roman Glass, Cole Dove and Justin Metcalf. Sophomore Nathan Gardner is the probable stater at quarterback, and Benji Clay and Morgan Crosby are wide receivers.
