Northridge’s Walker, Northside's Chandler third in state golf

MUSCLE SHOALS | William Walker of Northridge High School in the boys Class 6A division and Rebecca Chandler of Northside High School in the girls Class 1A-5A division both tied for third place in the 64th AHSAA Golf Championships, which concluded Tuesday at The Shoals Golf Course.
Walker shot 71-74—145 to finish at 1 over par over two days. He tied with Shane Connor of Pelham and Vasili Kartos of Spain Park in third place. Connor Smith of Spain Park shot 7 under to medal.
Chandler shot 74-79—153 to finish 9 over par. She tied with Tori Smith of Brooks. Arin Eddy of Hartselle shot even par to medal.
The Holy Spirit boys placed fourth in Class 1A-2A with a team score of 654. St. Luke’s won the team title at 590. Jon Dever paced the Titans with a 78-76—154 to tie for 11th at 10 over, and Sean Campbell tied for 15th at 12 over. Chase Lake was 20th at 19 over.
The Winfield girls placed fifth in 1A-51 at 561, with Jordan Clark tying for 11th at 88-80—168 to lead the team at 24 over. Muscle Shoals scored 502 to win.
Scotty Lawrence of Lamar County shot 81-83—164 to finish at 20-over in 21st place in 1A-2A boys. American Christian Academy’s Austin Plant placed 32nd in boys 3A.
