Lady Warriors make ACEAA title game

COTTONDALE | The Tuscaloosa Christian softball team is a win away from a second straight Alabama Christian Education Athletic Association championship.

Tuscaloosa Christian — which is hosting the ACEAA tournament — defeated Victory Christian Academy of Columbus, Miss., 9-1, in the opening game Friday and then shut out Victory Christian of Millbrook 9-0 in the second round.

The two Victory Christian teams will play at 10 this morning. The Lady Warriors will play the winner of that game at noon for the championship. If Tuscaloosa Christian loses, it would force a second game this afternoon.

Anna Rice (5-3) was the winning pitcher for Tuscaloosa Christian in the first game. She pitched seven innings with 14 strikeouts and one walk and allowed three hits.

At the plate for the Lady Warriors, Samantha Wright hit 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Holly Chandler was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Chandler Wyatt was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Lauren Bosch was 2-for-4 and Meaghan Sample hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.

In the Lady Warriors’ second game, Wyatt kept her season record perfect at 6-0, pitching all seven innings and striking out 15. She allowed four hits and didn’t give up a walk.

Anna Rice hit 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Wyatt had a double and two RBIs, and Samantha Wright had one hit and scored three runs.
