TCHS Wildcats fall to Hueytown


TUSCALOOSA | With two outs and two strikes, Madison Duluca delivered a walk-off double, pushing Hueytown past Tuscaloosa County 4-3 in the first game of the 6A AHSAA Regionals.

Earlier in the inning, Tuscaloosa County turned a double play when Jenna Ewing caught a line drive and threw to second to tag out Hueytown’s runner to clear the bases. With momentum on their side, the Golden Gophers quickly deflated the Wildcats excitement when Katelyn Prater hit a double and stole third setting up the go ahead hit by Duluca.

The Golden Gophers plated three in the 2nd inning to take a 3-0 run on the Wildcats.

Tuscaloosa County responded when Lindsay Turner pushed two runs across the plate. Alexis Trawick followed, plating another run for the Wildcats to tie the game.

Pitching took over after the third inning.

Catie Bundy took the loss, pitching a complete game and giving up five hits and two strikeouts.

Offensively, Aleca Rigsby went 2-for-4. Turner went 2-for-3 and Aleca Trawick went 1-for-3.

Tuscaloosa County falls to 20-24 on the season. Tuscaloosa County is scheduled to play Gardendale in an elimination game at 7 a.m. today.
