ROUNDUP: Paul W. Bryant sweeps Aliceville


ALICEVILLE | Paul W. Bryant’s Grant Sartain had 10 strikeouts and one run on two hits as the Stampede beat Aliceville 15-1 in the first game of a baseball doubleheader Tuesday.

Teammate Joe Pradat hit 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Luke Seale hit 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Michael Stevens hit 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

Aliceville’s Dave Shamery hit 2-for-2 with a run scored.

Luke Seale threw six strikeouts with two walks and four runs on four hits to improve the Stampede to 13-19 with a 21-4 win in the second game.

Joe Pradat hit 4-for-5 with four RBIs. Branden Sanchez hit 1-for-1 with three RBIs. Michael Stevens hit 2-for-3 with four RBIs.

Aliceville’s Demontez Hinton hit 1-for-2 with an RBI. Darwin Edwards hit 1-for-2 with a triple and a run scored. Chris Craig hit 1-for-1 with a run scored.


Tuscaloosa Academy 5, Autauga Academy 1

PRATTVILLE | Tuscaloosa Academy’s Austin Menard pitched a complete game, accumulating two strikeouts with no walks or earned runs to improve the Knights to 32-5. 

Teammate Daniel Winters hit 2-for-3. Greg Taylor hit 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Parker Farley hit 1-for-4 with an RBI. Robey Smalley hit 1-for-2 with an RBI.


Gordo 10, Hale County 5

GORDO | Gordo’s Cade Vails pitched two innings, giving up three runs on four hits with one strikeout and one walk to improve the Greenwave to 19-11.

Teammate Colton Tant hit 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs. Bo McAteer hit 2-for-3.

Hale County’s Malcolm Rox hit 2-for-3.

Grace Christian 2

CARROLLTON | Joel Pratt (2-1) got the win, pitching 32⁄3 innings with no hits, three walks and 10 strikeouts. At the plate for Pickens Academy (9-5), Pratt hit 1-for-3 with a single and an RBI. Josh Lewis went 2-for-4 with two singles and an RBI. Reece McGlawn was 2-for-2 with a single and a triple, and Sam Beachler was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

WEST BLOCTON | West Blocton’s Tristen Cook pitched five innings, accumulating five strikeouts and one run on four hits.

Cook hit 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Trace Wilder hit 2-for-4 with a single, a triple  and three runs scored. Noel Wilder hit 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored. Zach Hall hit 2-for-3 with a single, a double, and two RBIs. Jaylon Gains hit 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.
