ROUNDUP: Northridge beats Tuscaloosa County in softball

TUSCALOOSA | Savannah Buck scattered five hits in pitching a complete game Monday, and the Northridge High School softball team defeated Tuscaloosa County 3-1 in a Class 6A, Area 9 game.
Buck (9-3) allowed one earned run and two walks and struck out four. Katie Bundy (6-7) took the loss. She allowed three earned runs and a walk and struck out six in a complete-game effort.
Jasmine Thompson had a run and a stolen base for Northridge (19-12, 5-1). Sami Story singled, stole second and scored on Montana Taylor’s sacrifice fly. Maggie Porter had an RBI single.
Savannah Lunceford singled to drove in Alisha Rainey for TCHS (14-14, 2-2).
Hale County 3, ACA 2
TUSCALOOSA | In the seventh, Savanna Holmes doubled, and Lauren Averette singled for Hale County (13-12-2). Lexie Perry put down a bunt to drive in Holmes, and Averette scored on an error. Holmes doubled in Taylor Tashe in the fourth.
For American Christian Academy (12-9) half of the seventh, Chandler Dare tripled and singled, stole two bases and scored twice.
Holmes (6-7) pitched seven innings to get the win. She allowed five hits and three walks and struck out nine.
Lashley Graham took the loss. She allowed six hits and a walk and struck out four.
Hillcrest 2, Thompson 1
TUSCALOOSA | Allison Freeman threw a four-hitter for Hillcrest (30-10).
Freeman (11-5) allowed five walks and struck out four.
Hillcrest’s Desiree Morrow went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Karley Sanders went 1-for-1. Kailyn Dunn went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Fayette County 3
SAMANTHA | Savannah Stamps (11-4) pitched a complete game for Northside, 23-12-1 overall and 4-1 in Class 3A, Area 9.
Stampes allowed two walks and five hits and struck out four. Jacey McGuire took the loss. She gave up nine hits and two walks and struck out one.
Northside’s Haley Barnette went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Karley Watts went 3-for-4. Abbie Ray had a single and scored two runs. Riley Grace Honeycutt had a two-run double.
Fayette County’s Hannah Winston had a single and a run scored. Katie McCaffe had a single and a run scored.
Berry 3, South Lamar 2
MILLPORT | Berry (15-10, 4-2)scored two runs in the first inning and one in the sixth to defeat South Lamar (14-16, 4-1) in a Class 1A, Area 9 game.
In the sixth, Berry’s Emma Herren hit a double and scored on a hit by Karlie Milligan.
Berry’s Terra Gwin went 2-for-4. Milligan scored a run, and Herren scored twice.
Karoline Holsonback went 2-for-4 with a run for South Lamar.
Winning pitcher Hannah Herren (15-10) allowed three hits and six walks. House (0-1) allowed four hits and two walks in 51⁄3 innings.
Southern Academy 9,
Sumter Academy 1
Winning pitcher Stevie Miller allowed four hits and struck out 11. She also had an RBI double. Shelbie Clary went 4-for-5 with two doubles. Morgan Griffith went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Mary Beth Day went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Bibb County 4, Calera 0
CENTREVILLE | Mandi Woodruff (17-12) threw a two-hit shutout. She recorded 11 strikeouts for Bibb County (17-13, 3-1 Class 4A, Area 7). Marena Miles went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Summer Hudson went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Bailie Seales scored twice.
Cornerstone Christian 6-4
Tuscaloosa Academy 1-3
TUSCALOOSA | Tuscaloosa Academy fell to 18-7 as Cornerstone Christian swept a doubleheader.
In the first game, Chassiti Kimbrell (6-3) took the loss. She allowed six runs on five hits and struck out three.
In the second game, Brittany Ledbetter (12-4) took the loss. She allowed eight hits and struck out seven.
Marengo Academy 3,
Clarke Prep 2
LINDEN | In the bottom of the ninth, Marengo Academy (20-1)started with Brooke Smyly on second under the international tiebreaker rule. Conner Etheridge doubled to drive in Smyly. Etheridge went to third on Andrea Edmonds’ sacrifice bunt and scored on a single by Alexia Johnson.
In the Marengo Academy eighth, Johnson was at second base. Taylor Barley had an infield hit, and Chandler Stenz reached on a fielder’s choice to load the bases. Anna Michael Crocker drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
Edmonds (16-1) threw a one-hitter. She allowed one earned run and struck out 15.
Bessemer Academy 7,
Tuscaloosa Christian 3
COTTONDALE | Anna Rice (3-1) took the loss. She gave up five hits and seven runs, two earned, in 41⁄3 innings. She walked one and struck out one.’
Lauren Bosch went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Tuscaloosa Christian (5-1). Rice went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Holly Chandler had two hits.
Tuscaloosa Academy 6,
Cornerstone Christian 0
TUSCALOOSA | Robey Smalley (5-2) and Austin Menard combined for a two-hit shutout for Tuscaloosa Academy (31-5).
Smalley walked two and finished with 10 strikeouts. Menard pitched one inning and recorded four strikeouts, including one on a dropped third strike.
Tuscaloosa Academy’s Parker Farley went 2-for-4 with a home run. Clay Thomas went 2-for-2 with a double. J.D. Diaz had two hits.
Bibb County 6,
BROOKWOOD | Taylor Caffee threw a three-hitter to get the win for Bibb County (18-10).
Caffee struck out seven and walked one.
Bibb County’s Tanner Wallace went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. T.J. Lockett went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and one run scored. Brett Lightsey, Brandon Fuller and Matthew Price went 2-for-4 with one run scored.
Brookwood’s Dalton Hodo went 1-for-3 and scored a run.
South Lamar 8,
Lamar County 5
VERNON | South Lamar (15-7) recorded a no-hitter in a win over Lamar County.
Winning pitcher Kyle Aldridge (8-3) struck out five and walked nine in 51⁄3 innings. South Lamar pitchers hit seven batters and allowed a total of 10 walks.
Casey White pitched two innings in taking the loss. He allowed four hits and a walk.
South Lamar’s Dillon Trammel went 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI. Tucker Holliman went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Dalton Pollard went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Holy Spirit 4, Altamont 0
TUSCALOOSA | Eighth-grader Jordan Richmond scored all four goals for Holy Spirit (11-1-1).
Lily Rogers had three assists. Blakley Jones got the shutout.
Northridge takes title
TUSCALOOSA | The Northridge High School golf team shot a 304 to win the title in the Tuscaloosa City-County Tournament at Ol’ Colony.
Jackson Seawell led the Jaguars with a 71. William Walker had a 77. Jake Stoutland and Trey Rose each shot a 78.
Tuscaloosa County was second at 316. Preston Jones led the Wildcats with a 76. Will Baker had an 80. Corbin Holt and Mitch Hankins each posted an 81.
Jon Dever shot a 77 as Holy Spirit was third with a 336 total. Chase Lake had an 85, Sean Campbell an 86 and Ben Dever an 88.
Hillcrest was fourth at 354. Dylan Martenn shot an 84. Nick Gann had an 85, and Seth White had an 88. Wesley Shupe shot a 97.
Brookwood posted a team total of 357. Drew Grow led the Panthers with an 84. Grant Larson had an 87. Nate Larson and Hayden Hyche each shot a 93.
TA fourth at 312
AUBURN | The Tuscaloosa Academy golf team placed fourth in a six-team tournament at the par-71 Indian Pines Golf Club.
Lee-Scott Academy won with a 301.
Tuscaloosa Academy’s Wilson Standeffer shot a 75. Price McGiffert posted a round of 77. Pride Snow and Harrison Howell each shot an 80.

Westminster Christian 2
HUNTSVILLE | The Fayette County tennis team won five singles matches to defeat Westminster Christian.
Singles winners for Fayette County were Dakota Harris at No. 1, Gene Fulmer at No. 3, Cal McDonald at No. 4, Jacob Fulmer at No. 4 and Sam Taylor at No. 6.
