SPRING SPORTS ROUNDUP: Malone leads Lady Rams to softball romp past ACA

TUSCALOOSA | Ryleigh Malone had three singles and drove in four runs Wednesday to lead the Northside High School softball team to a 17-6 victory over American Christian Academy.
Northside improved to 19-10-1 overall, 3-1 in Class 3A, Area 9.
Northside scored one run in the first inning, four in the second, five in the third and seven in the fourth.
Abbie Ray had a double and two singles and drove in three runs. Haley Barnett had a double and a single and three RBIs. Reagan Malone had two singles and three RBIs.
Savannah Stamps (10-4) pitched a complete game in five innings to get the win. She struck out one, walked three and gave up seven hits. Lashley Graham pitched 22⁄3 innings in taking the loss. She allowed eight hits and nine runs with two walks and two strikeouts.
ACA’s Chandler Dare had a triple and a single. She scored three runs and stole three bases. Rachel Skelton went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Kaitlyn Hamner went 2-for-2 and stole a base.
Northside plays at 2 p.m. Friday at Sipsey Valley at 5 p.m. Friday at Northridge.
ACA 16, Holt 1
TUSCALOOSA | American Christian Academy scored eight runs in the first inning, three in the second and five in the third to beat Holt in three innings in a Class 3A, Area 9 game.
ACA improved to 21-8 overall, 5-1 in the area.
Meagan Osment went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs. Taylor Mize went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Lashley Graham went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Graham (15-6) allowed one hit and one walk and struck out five.
ACA plays at home against Hale County at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Lamar County 9, Berry 2
VERNON | Kristy Whitfield went 3-for-4 with a home run and a double and two RBIs for Lamar County. She also scored a run.
Kristin White went 2-for-2 and scored two runs.
Emma Herren went 2-for-2 with a double for Berry (14-10).
Hannah Hassell was the winning pitcher. She allowed five hits and three walks and struck out 11.
Hannah Herren pitched 42⁄3 innings in taking the loss. She allowed nine hits and eight runs.
Fayette County 8, Hubbertville 0
HUBBERTVILLE | Fayette County’s Jacy McGwire struck out 13 while pitching a three-hit shutout.
Hubbertville’s Ashlyn Hubbert (5-6) allowed 10 hits, six earned runs and a walk and struck out two.
Autumn Bonner had two hits, including a two-run homer, and drove in four runs as Fayette County improved to 9-4. Hannah Winston went 2-for-3 with three runs scored. McGwire went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Paige Walters, Robin Hubbert and Kristen Hubbert each had a hit for Hubbertville (6-8).
South Lamar 11, Sulligent 1
MILLPORT | Kyle Aldridge ran his pitching record to 8-2 in a five-inning victory over Sulligent.
Aldridge allowed four hits and a walk and struck out two. Logan Barnes took the loss. He allowed four hits and nine walks and struck out one in three innings.
Dalton Pollard went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Zach Foster went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Jerron Hester singled to drive in Fred Nethery with Sulligent’s only run in the first inning.
South Lamar (14-6) plays at home in Millport against Gordo on Friday.
Holy Spirit 3, Demopolis 1
DEMOPOLIS | Andrew Whitfield scored two goals, one in each half, to lead the Holy Spirit boys soccer team to a win over Demopolis.
Holy Spirit improved to 12-2-2.
Whitfield scored his first goal with an assist by Max Schalk. Alex Enns assisted on a goal by Connor Bassett as the Titans took a 2-0 halftime lead.
Austin Brooks scored for Demopolis in the second half.
Holy Spirit goalkeeper Rohit Fonseca had four saves.
Demopolis plays at Holy Spirit on Friday.
Fayette County 9, ACA 0
The Fayette County boys tennis team swept ACA in a Wednesday match.
Singles winners were Dakota Harris at No. 1, Owen Taylor at No. 2, Gene Fulmer at No. 3, Cal McDonald at No. 4, Jacob Fulmer at No. 5 and Sam Taylor at No. 6.
