ROUNDUP: Holy Spirit baseball beats Pickens County

REFORM | Holy Spirit’s Garrett Anderson (2-4) pitched 5-plus innings for the win, with nine strikeouts and two walks as the Titans (2-7) took a 10-7 win over Pickens County and improved to 1-1 in Class 1A, Area 9 play Friday night.

Zan Jones, Anderson, Danner Young and Pierce Goodbread each recorded two hits, with Jones delivering a key two-out, two-run single in the sixth.

Goodbread recorded a save, striking out four in 123 innings.

Pickens County starter Abramo Hill took the loss with five earned runs, and Pickens’ Gunter Lemons had two hits.

 

Berry 7, Holt 2

SULLIGENT | Dillion Lowery (1-0) picked up his first win on the season and led Berry (3-3) to a win over Holt in the Blue Devil Classic.

Lowery pitched seven innings, allowed one earned run on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks. At the plate, Lowery had three hits.

Maken Potter had two hits with one run scored and three RBIs. Neil Sullivan had four hits, one run scored and two RBIs.

Holt’s Ronnie Strozier took the loss and had two strikeouts in five innings.

North River Christian 4,

Victory Christian 3

NORTHPORT | Alex Lewis scored the winning run when Courtnie Plythe batted her in as North River Christian (1-1) took the 4-3 win over Victory Christian of Millbrook in eight innings.

Lewis finished 3-for-4. Plythe went 2-for-4. Lori Ann Sims (1-1) pitched a complete game with three strikeouts.

 

Brookwood 2, Hueytown 0

PLEASANT GROVE | Codi Pierson hit 1-for-3 and batted in Cassidy Hutchins in the sixth inning as Brookwood (9-5) defeated Hueytown in the Pleasant Grove Invitational.

Pierson would score the second run in the same inning. Amanda Medders (6-1) took the win and had three strikeouts in a complete game.
