BASEBALL ROUNDUP: TA shuts out Bessemer Academy twice


BESSEMER | Tuscaloosa Academy shut out Bessemer Academy twice Thursday to sweep a doublehead in prep baseball action Thursday.

TA won the first game 6-0 and the second 10-0.

In the first game, Tuscaloosa Academy’s Nathaniel Schlesinger pitched five innings and struck out seven to earn the win.

Teammate William Heath hit 3-for-3 with a single, a double, a triple and three RBIs.

Kyle Andrews pitched five innings in the second game, struck out four, allowed just one hit.

For TA (11-3) Parker Farley hit 4-for-4 with three runs scored. Clay Thomas hit 2-for-4, with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Greg Taylor hit 1-for-4 with two RBIs, a double with two runs scored.

 

Pickens Academy 16-4, Central Academy 5-1

CARROLTON | Pickens Academy’s Daniel Cameron pitched three innings in the first game, had six strikeouts, allowed five hits, four runs and walked three.

Cameron hit 2-for-2 with two singles and two RBIs. Joel Pratt hit 2-for-2 with a single, a double, and an RBI. Reece Mcgrawn hit 2-for-2 with two singles. Lance Acker hit 2-for-2 with two singles and three RBIs. Preston McGahey hit 2-for-2 with two singles. Josh Lewis hit 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a solo home run.

In the second game, Pickens Academy’s Phil Fikes pitched five innings and struck out 12. He gave up just one hit and walked four.

Also for the Pirates (4-1), Fikes hit 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI. Daniel Cameron hit 2-for-2 with two singles and an RBI.

 

West Blocton 10, Billingsley 6

WEST BLOCTON | West Blocton’s Triston Cook pitched seven innings, accumulating 11 strikeouts and four hits to improve the Tigers to 4-4.

Teammate Jaylon Gaines hit 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Lucas Vinging hit 2-for-4.

Billingsley’s Brad Mills hit 2-for-4.

 

Bibb County 8-6, Hale County 4-2

MOUNDVILLE | Bibb County’s Justin Cottingham pitched five innings in the first game to get the win. He gave up four runs on three hits.

For Bibb County, T.J. Lockett hit 2-for-3 with an RBI. Hunter Caffee hit 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs.

Hale County’s Dylan Mappers hit 1-for-4.

Bibb County’s Taylor Caffee pitched seven innings in the second game, allowed three hits and two runs to improve the Choctaws to 10-2.

For the Choctaws, Peyton Holdsambeck hit 2-for-3. Hunter Caffee hit 2-for-3 with a double.

 

South Lamar 22, Aliceville 0

SULLIGENT | South Lamar’s Dave Cole pitched four innings, accumulating five strikeouts with one hit and three walks to improve the Stallions to 3-1.

Teammate Dalton Pollard hit 2-for-3 with a double and a single. Kyle Aldridge hit 2-for-3 with two singles. Holden Fields hit 3-for-5 with two doubles and a single.

 

South Lamar 22, Sulligent 0

SULLIGENT | South Lamar’s Kyle Aldridge pitched five innings, accumulating 10 strikeouts, one hit, and two walks to improve the Stallions to 4-1.

Aldridge hit 2-for-3 with a double and a single. Holden Fields hit 2-for-3 with a double, a single, and three RBIs. Tucker Holliman hit 2-for-3 with a double and a single.
