TUSCALOOSA | Here is how some former Tuscaloosa-area high school athletes now competing at the collegiate level fared last week:

 

Men’s basketball

 

Alabama A&M junior forward Demarquelle Tabb (Greensboro High School) scored eight points and pulled down nine rebounds in a 69-62 loss to rival Alabama State on Saturday.

Alabama-Huntsville freshman guard Wayne Dedrick (Hillcrest High School) averaged 11.5 points in a pair of Gulf South Conference victories over Valdosta State and West Florida. He scored 14 points in the Chargers’ 77-70 win over Valdosta State last Thursday. UAH (18-3, 11-2 Gulf South) is riding a five-game winning streak.

Itawamba sophomore forward Tre Wells (Hillcrest High School) recorded 13 points, eight rebounds and two assists in a 90-89 loss to Northwest Mississippi College on Thursday.

Lawson State sophomore center Pierre Crawford (Greene County High School) is averaging 5.3 points and 4.7 rebounds during the team’s three-game winning streak.

Columbus State sophomore guard/forward Dimitri Davis (Tuscaloosa County High School) scored six points and pulled down three rebounds in a loss at Georgia Southwestern on Thursday.

Middle Tennessee junior forward Neiko Hunter (Greene County High School) averaged 12.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in wins over Arkansas State and Troy last week. He scored 17 points and grabbed three rebounds in a 13-point win over Arkansas State.

Northeastern sophomore forward Reggie Spencer (Hillcrest High School) averaged 8.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in Colonial Athletic Association wins over Old Dominion and William & Mary. The Huskies are 12-1 in league play for the first time.

Shelton State sophomore guard Nick Browder (Hale County High School) recorded three steals and grabbed two rebounds in the Bucs’ 109-47 win over Alabama Southern on Saturday. Shelton State had a nine-game win streak snapped in an 87-87 loss to Gadsden State on Monday.

Shelton State sophomore forward Ladarius Tabb (Francis Marion High School) collected 12 points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal in the win over Alabama Southern.

Shelton State sophomore forward Sean Tingle (Brookwood High School) posted his first double-double of the year with 12 points and 10 rebounds in Saturday’s win over Alabama Southern.

Sioux Falls senior guard A.J. Holland (Paul W. Bryant High School) averaged 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in wins over Minot State and University of Mary on Friday and Saturday.

Stillman junior guard Markeith Madison (Hillcrest High School) averaged 13.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games last week. He had 18 points and nine rebounds in an 87-63 win over Concordia on Thursday.

Stillman junior center Torrean Walker (Hillcrest High School) averaged 7.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 6.0 blocked shots against Concordia and Tuskegee last week. He had 13 rebounds and six blocks in the win over Concordia and added 12 points, nine rebounds and six blocks in the loss to Tuskegee.

West Alabama junior guard Sandy Underwood (Bibb County High School) collected 21 points and 12 rebounds in the Tigers’ 58-54 win at West Georgia on Saturday.

Wright State sophomore center Tavares Sledge (Brookwood High School) averaged 5.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in wins over Green Bay and Milwaukee.

 

Women’s basketball

 

Alabama junior guard Shafontaye Myers (Sunshine High School) averaged 11.0 points per game against South Carolina and Arkansas last week.

Alabama-Huntsville sophomore forward Juanice Newton (Sumter County High School) scored 10 points and grabbed three rebounds in the Chargers’ 72-71 win over West Florida on Saturday.

Judson sophomore guard Abby Isom (Hillcrest High School) scored 15 total points in games against Blue Mountain and Concordia last week.

Millsaps freshman forward Tori Morgan (Northridge High School) posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the Majors’ 49-40 win over Sewanee on Friday.

Mississippi State junior guard Katia May (Sumter County High School) scored a season-high 16 points and dished our four assists in the Bulldogs’ win at Missouri on Sunday.

Shelton State sophomore guard Juliser Harper (Livingston High School) tallied seven points and seven assists in the Lady Bucs’ 73-47 win over Alabama Southern on Saturday. She scored 10 points Monday as Shelton State (26-0) won its 46th straight regular-season game.

Stillman senior outfielder Michelle Gray (Tuscaloosa County High School) recorded two hits in the season-opening series with North Alabama and West Alabama.

Stillman sophomore guard Morgan Henry (Paul W. Bryant High School) averaged 8.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in a pair of games against Concordia and Tuskegee last week. She had 10 points and eight rebounds in the win over Concordia.

Stillman sophomore guard Andrea Moore (Hillcrest High School) averaged 12 points and 7.5 rebounds against Concordia and Tuskegee. He had 15 points and seven rebounds in the win over Concordia.

 

Baseball

CC. In the nightcap, Anderson went 4 for 4 with three home runs, four runs scored and five RBIs. He was 3 for 4 with two runs in the opener. Six of his hits were extra-base hits.

Alabama-Huntsville senior infielder Vincent Kortbawi (Hale County High School) went 4 for 5 with four RBIs in the Chargers’ win over Trevecca on Friday.

West Alabama freshman infielder Stuart Terry (Tuscaloosa Academy) is hitting .364 with three runs scored in five games.

 

Softball

 

Alabama junior catcher Jordan Patterson (American Christian Academy) reached base twice and scored one run for the Crimson Tide last weekend at the UNI-Dome tournament.

Samford freshman infielder Callie Brister (Hillcrest High School) went 1 for 3 with one double, one run scored and two RBIs in her debut against Florida Atlantic on Friday.

Shelton State sophomore catcher Casey Wyatt (Hillcrest High School) is hitting .350 in eight games with five runs scored and three RBIs.

Stillman senior shortstop Bailey Braughton (Tuscaloosa County High School) collected three hits and two RBIs in the opening weekend for the Tigers.

Stillman freshman first baseman Hannah Burr (American Christian Academy) hit .400 in her collegiate debut last weekend against North Alabama and West Alabama. She was 2 for 4 with one double and one RBI in series finale with West Alabama.

Stillman junior pitcher Kristina Kelly (Brookwood High School) started two games on the mound against North Alabama and West Alabama and recorded two complete games in her collegiate debut.

West Alabama junior second baseman Michal Robertson (Northside High School) went 2 for 6 with one triple, two runs scored and two RBIs in the Tigers’ two wins over Stillman.
