BOYS ROUNDUP: Pickens County routs Holy Spirit

REFORM | In the boys Class 1A, Area 8 basketball final Monday night, MVP Laron Thomas scored 22 points, making six 3-pointers, to lead Pickens County to a 61-35 win over Holy Spirit.
All-tournament team members Bobby Bradford and Terrien Steele both had 10 points, with Steele adding five rebounds. Devonte Simon joined his teammates on the all-tournament team.
Holy Spirit’s all-tournament team members were its scoring leaders, William David with 11 and Noah Sutton with 10, as well as Kam Swift.
Also making the all-tournament team were Hubbertville’s Aaron Dillard, South Lamar’s Holden Fields and Jydarren Cox, and, from Berry, Neil Sullivan and Maken Potter.
Pickens County (17-7) will host a subregional game at 7 p.m. Friday. Holy Spirit will travel.
Class 3A, Area 6
Sipsey Valley 58
GREENSBORO | Greensboro was led by Keimondre Turner’s 23 points, 19 from Jimmie Taylor, 15 from Donald King and 12 from Kavoris Owens.
Jamarius Leatherwood had 22 points and nine rebounds, Rasheed Worrell had 14 points and six rebounds, and Palmer Cabaniss had 13 points for Sipsey Valley (24-7).
Sipsey Valley plays at Holt on Friday in a subregional, while Greensboro will host American Christian Academy.
Class 3A, Area 7
American Christian 49
TUSCALOOSA | Devin Crawford’s 17 points led Holt. Devonta Jenkins had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Zay Jackson had 12 points and a team-leading 17 rebounds, and Jailon Foster had 11 points and six rebounds.
For the Patriots (20-8), Collin Crowe led with 16 points, and Blake Sanderson had 10.
Holt (17-10) will host Sipsey Valley at 7:30 p.m. Friday. American Christian Academy travels to Greensboro.
Class 5A, Area 6
Sumter Central 68,
YORK | Sumter Central’s Dayvon Maye made a layup and a free throw with 8 seconds remaining to lift No. 3 Sumter Central. Maye, the tournament MVP, ended with a career-best 37 points, including six 3-poiners. Donnell Childers was the Jaguars’ (22-4) next high scorer with eight points.
Zac Smith led Greenville with 21 points.
Sumter Central will host Central on Friday in a subregional.

North River Christian 52
BESSEMER | Four players scored in double figures for Tuscaloosa Christian, led by Jordan Potter’s 20 points and five rebounds. Tyler Foust had 18 points and five rebounds, Freedom Woods had 11 points, and Trent Gibson had 10 points.
Josh Harris led all scorers and North River Christian Academy with 23 points, and Michael Robertson scored 14.
