ROUNDUP: TCHS reaches area title game


TUSCALOOSA | The Tuscaloosa County Wildcats defeated Bessemer City 60-56 in the Class 6A Area 13 tournament on Friday to advance to the championship game.

The Wildcats sealed the win with two late free throws from Que Hall with five seconds left. Justice Green led the Wildcats with 24 points while Christopher Johnson and Hall followed up with 15 points apiece.

Tuscaloosa County will play Hillcrest on Monday for the area title at Hillcrest.

 

Hillcrest 62, Northridge 37

TUSCALOOSA | The Patriots beat the Jaguars in the Class 6A Area 13 semifinals. Jared Pruitt and James Thomas led the Patriots with 11 points apiece, while Cyontai Lewis led the Jaguars with 11 points.

The Patriots (21-8) play Tuscaloosa County on Monday for the area title at Hillcrest.

Linden 83, John Essex 58

LINDEN | Shauka Reese led the Patriots (21-2) with 39 points, going 10-for-12 on 3-pointers. Imoras Age followed up with 17 points.

Anthony McIntosh, Josh Moore and Cedric Crooks led the Hornets with 16, 14 and 10 points, respectively.

 

Class 1A, Area 8

 

Pickens County 61, Berry 30

REFORM | Laron Thomas scored 18 points and Bobby Bradford 12 to lead Pickens County (16-7).

Neil Sullivan led Berry with nine points.

The Tornadoes face Holy Spirit in the finals on Monday.

 

Holy Spirit 68, South Lamar 60

REFORM | Kameron Swift scored 14 while William David and Noah Sutton scored 12 for Holy Spirit’s (12-17).

Jydarrin Cox led South Lamar and all scorers with 22.

 

Class 2A, Area 7

 

Aliceville 77, Francis Marion 65

UNIONTOWN | Aliceville (17-5) was led by Anfernee Mullins with 15 points, Ken Little scored 14, Joe Robinson 13, and Derrick Jones 12.

High scorers for Francis Marion were Mike Griffin with 16 and Demetrius Bates with 10.

 

Class 3A Area 6

 

Sipsey Valley 52, Greene County 50

GREENSBORO | Greene County missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the Bears to the championship game.

Jamerius Leatherwood led Sipsey Valley with 21 points while Rasheed Worrell followed up with 14 points and five blocks.

Brandon Williams and Devin Merryweather led the Tigers with 17 and 13 points, respectively.

Sipsey Valley will play against Greensboro in the championship on Monday.

 

Greensboro 74, Gordo 56

GREENSBORO | Keimondre Turner led the Raiders (24-2) with 19 points. Donald King and Javontey Smith followed up with 12 points apiece and Kavoris Owens and Jamarcus Gray finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Dee White and Ben Davis led the Greenwave’s with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Greensboro will play Sipsey Valley for the championship on Monday.

 

Class 3A Area 7

 

Holt 62, Fayette County 41

TUSCALOOSA | Zay Jackson led the Ironmen with 21 points and 16 rebounds while Devin Crawford and Ladarious Tony added 17 and 11 points, respectively.

Will Redmondd led the Tigers with 12 points.

The Ironmen play ACA on Monday in the championship.

 

ACA 56, Northside 35

TUSCALOOSA | The Patriots (20-7) were led by Chris Mobley with 14 points, Carter McGill with 11 points and John Mills with 10 points.

Northside (12-10) was led by Zarrian Grant with 14 points.

The Patriots will meet Holt in the Area championship on Monday.

Sumter Central 46, Selma 32

YORK | Dayzon Maye led the Jaguars with 26 points while Keyshawn Ford led Selma with 12 points.

 

Tuscaloosa Christian Academy 54,

Lindsey-Lane Christian Academy 16

COTTONDALE | Tuscaloosa Christian beat Lindsey-Lane Christian Academy 54-16 on senior night.

Trent Gibson scored 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors, while Nathan Liberto added 10 points. Connor.
