GIRLS ROUNDUP: Central slams McAdory in tourney play

TUSCALOOSA | Toborsha Holley scored 20 points, Jerlissa Matthews 13 and Shawntayla Harris had 10 points and eight rebounds in Central’s 72-42 win over McAdory on Thursday night in girls Class 5A, Area 7 tournament play.
Central (22-5) hosts Paul W. Bryant on Saturday at 6 p.m. for the area championship.
Paul W. Bryant 36, Brookwood 35
TUSCALOOSA | Paul W. Bryant (13-11) will play Central for the area championship on Saturday at 6 p.m. after beating Brookwood.
Jade Ledet scored 10 and Marquanda Anderson nine for the Lady Stampede. Caitlin Headrick led Brookwood with 10.
Class 1A, Area 4
Akron 81, Linden 43
SUNSHINE | LovPrincess Harris scored 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, Dequandra Lyles had 20 points and four steals, and Valencia McCain had 22 points, six rebounds and six steals in leading Akron’s (17-8) win.
Class 1A, Area 8
Berry 60, Hubbertville 23
BERRY | Emma Herren scored 20 points, dished out six assists and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Berry’s (23-5) win.
Berry will face Holy Spirit at 6 p.m. Saturday in the finals.
Also scoring in double digits for the Lady Wildcats were Taylor Jones with 10 points and 15 rebounds and Brittany Elkins with 10 points.
Holy Spirit 71, Pickens County 40
NEWBERN | Holy Spirit beat Pickens County in the AHSAA Class 1A Area 8 Tournament. Tamera Giles led the Titans with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Kudesia Ash and Caroline Sisson followed up with 13 and 12 points, respectively. The Titans will play against Berry on Saturday.
Class 2A, Area 7
Aliceville 59, Francis Marion 43
UNIONTOWN | Katelyn Shamery scored 18 points, had five rebounds and five steals, Zharia Eddins had 16 points and five rebounds, and Alexis Garner had 14 points, five assists and five steals in Aliceville’s AHSAA Class 2A, Area 7 semifinal win. Quiensha Evans scored 11 for Francis Marion.
Aliceville plays area tournament host R.C. Hatch Saturday at 7 p.m. for the championship.
Class 3A, Area 6
Greene County 49, Sipsey Valley 39
GREENSBORO | Greene County has advanced to the championship game with a win.
Sacorya Jackson led with 20 points, Nicole Vester had 12 and Brandi Eubanks 10.
Tamira May led Sipsey Valley with 12 points.
Greensboro 82, Gordo 26
GREENSBORO | The Raiders were led by Elitia Hoskins with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Also for Greensboro, Jashundra Hoskins had 13 points and six rebounds. Shawnderyl Watford, Delexis Evans and Malesha Williams scored 12 points each. Evans also had six blocks. Zania Wiggins had 10 points and five assists.
Gordo was led by Quaniyah Summerville with 14 points.
Greensboro (19-7) plays Greene County in the championship game on Monday.
Class 3A, Area 7
American Christian 45, Northside 19
TUSCALOOSA | American Christian (14-11) was led by Ally English with 11 points and five rebounds and got nine points from Ashton Belew.
Ryleigh Malone led Northside with 11 of its 19 points. ACA will host Holt on Monday at 6 p.m. for the area championship.
Holt 42, Fayette County 40
TUSCALOOSA | In its first win since Dec. 14, Holt (6-15) came back from a seven-point deficit going into the fourth period to defeat Fayette County. The Lady Ironmen face host ACA in the area final on Monday at 6 p.m.
Holt, who broke a 12-game losing streak, outscored Fayette County 20-11 in the fourth period. Haleigh Shaw, Aaliyah Howard and Jaquetta Street each had nine points for Holt.
McCayla Cobb led Fayette County with 20 points.
