TUSCALOOSA | Here is how some former Tuscaloosa-area high school athletes now competing at the collegiate level fared last week:
Alabama A&M junior forward Demarquelle Tabb (Greensboro High School) averaged 16 points and 10.5 rebounds against Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas Pine-Bluff. He has 10 double-doubles this season, including three straight.
Alabama A&M senior guard Justin Wagner (Greensboro High School) scored eight points in the Bulldogs’ 74-67 loss to Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Monday.
Alabama-Huntsville freshman guard Wayne Dedrick (Hillcrest High School) averaged 8.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in a pair of Gulf South Conference victories over West Georgia and West Alabama.
Itawamba sophomore forward Tre Wells (Hillcrest High School) is averaging 5.6 points in 17 games for the Indians.
Middle Tennessee junior forward Neiko Hunter (Greene County High School) helped the Blue Raiders extended their winning streak to nine games with a pair of wins over Florida Atlantic and Florida International. Hunter is averaging 7.5 points per game. The nine-game winning streak is the eighth-longest in the nation.
Northeastern sophomore forward Reggie Spencer (Hillcrest High School) averaged 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in a pair of Colonial Athletic Association games last week. He tallied 17 points and nine rebounds in last Wednesday’s loss to Georgia State. The Huskies lead the CAA with a 9-1 record.
Shelton State sophomore guard Nick Browder (Hale County High School) scored six points in the Bucs’ 101-76 win over Marion Military Institute on Monday. The Bucs have won seven straight games.
Shelton State sophomore guard Derek Hamner (Hillcrest High School) tallied nine points and five rebounds in the win over MMI.
Shelton State sophomore forward Ladarius Tabb (Francis Marion High School) collected 16 points, five rebounds and three steals in Monday’s win.
Sioux Falls senior guard A.J. Holland (Paul W. Bryant High School) averaged 11.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in a pair of games. He tallied 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists in Friday’s 89-58 win at Minnesota-Crookston.
Stillman junior guard Markeith Madison (Hillcrest High School) averaged 11.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in wins over LeMoyne-Owen and Miles.
Stillman junior center Torrean Walker (Hillcrest High School) averaged 10 points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots in wins over LeMoyne-Owen and Miles.
West Alabama junior guard Sandy Underwood (Bibb County High School) averaged 11.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in losses to Shorter and Alabama-Huntsville.
Alabama junior guard Shafontaye Myers (Sunshine High School) averaged 8.5 points per game in losses to Georgia and Florida.
Judson College sophomore guard Abby Isom (Hillcrest High School) averaged 20.5 points in wins over Huntingdon and Selma.
Millsaps freshman forward Tori Morgan (Northridge High School) averaged 3.5 points and 4.0 rebounds as the Majors extended their winning streak to five games with victories over Rhodes and Hendrix.
Mississippi State junior guard Katia May (Sumter County High School) scored four points and dished out four assists in Sunday’s 49-47 win over Arkansas.
Shelton State sophomore guard Juliser Harper (Livingston High School) collected four points, four assists and three rebounds as the Lady Bucs won their 22nd straight game with an 83-53 win over Wallace State-Hanceville.
Shelton State freshman guard Kaitlyn Taylor (Holy Spirit High School) scored five points in the win over Wallace State.
Stillman sophomore guard Morgan Henry (Paul W. Bryant High School) tallied 11 points and six rebounds in the Tigers’ win over rival Miles on Saturday.
Stillman sophomore guard Andrea Moore (Hillcrest High School) averaged 10 points and 13 rebounds in wins over LeMoyne-Owen and Miles. She recorded a double-double in the 20-point win over LeMoyne-Owen.
UAH junior pitcher Alex Aultman (Winfield High School) recorded four strikeouts in 41⁄3 innings in his debut with the Chargers.
UAH senior infielder Vincent Kortbawi (Hale County High School) went 7 for 17 (.412) and drove in two runs as the Chargers won three of four games on the opening weekend of the season.
Arkansas-Monticello senior pitcher Eddie Smith (Brookwood High School) made two relief appearances and suffered one loss on the opening weekend of the season for the Boll Weevils.
Stillman senior right-hander Jake Barnett (Northside High School) was the winning pitcher in relief in the series finale against Loyola-New Orleans as the Tigers completed a three-game sweep over the weekend.
Stillman junior catcher Brad Sevenish (Tuscaloosa County High School) collected two hits in the three-game sweep of Loyola-New Orleans.
