GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: ACA clips Hale County


 TUSCALOOSA | Haleigh Howell had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead American Christian Academy (12-10, 5-1) past Hale County, 47-43, in girls high school basketball action Thursday night.

Aly English had 13 points and seven rebounds for ACA, and Chandler Dare had nine points and seven rebounds.

Gabrielle Steele led Hale County with 17 points.

 

Sumter Central 53, Hillcrest 48

YORK | Sarabia Jemison scored 16 and Shaquala Bryant 12 in a 53-48 win by Sumter Central (19-4) against Hillcrest.

Top scorers for Hillcrest were Ambrica Johnson with 18 and Vashaun Wiggins with 11.

 

Phillips-Bear Creek 50, Hubbertville 42

BEAR CREEK | Tonya Grace scored 17 and both Chris Todd and Erica Bradbury scored 12 in Phillips’ 50-42 home win against Hubbertville.

Hubbertville (2-18) was led by Summer Tucker with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Stormi Gray with 11 points and 16 rebounds.

 

Akron 53, Aliceville 42

ALICEVILLE | DeQuandria Lyles scored 16 points and LovPrincess 12 in Akron’s 53-42 win at Aliceville.

For Aliceville (18-5), Alexis Garner scored 12 and Katelyn Shamery nine.

 

Pickens Academy 47, Clark Prep 16

CAMDEN | Pickens Academy beat Clarke Prep in the AISA Class A, Region 2 tournament.

Pickens Academy’s Marianna Pratt led the win with 10 points. Abigail Colvin had nine points and seven rebounds.

 

Tuscaloosa Academy 57, Morgan Academy 43

SELMA | No. 6 Tuscaloosa Academy has advanced to the second round of the AISA, Class AAA Region 2 tournament by beating tournament host Morgan Academy.

Krissy Pruitt scored 14 points for the Lady Knights, and Addison Harrison, Hallie Harrison, Carlie Cohran and Chasity Kimbrell each scored seven. Hallie Harrison had nine rebounds and three blocks.

TA (21-6) plays Escambia Academy at 6 tonight in the second round at Morgan Academy.
