BOYS ROUNDUP: Bibb County clinches area championship


CALERA | Buster Goode scored a game-high 26 points and Bibb County (10-11, 5-1) clinched Class 4A, Area 7 with a 60-41 win over Calera in high school boys basketball action on Friday night.

Calera’s Ronnie Clark scored 19 points.

 

American Christian 62, Northside 34

SAMANTHA | Carter McGill led American Christian Academy (16-5, 4-1) with 20 points in a Class 3A, Area 7 win over Northside (9-8, 2-4).

Also for the Patriots, Tyler House scored 10 points and Ross Hardin had nine.

Northside’s Zarrian Grant scored 15 points.

 

Sumter Central 59,

Selma 51

LIVINGSTON | Jykwentin Johnson had 18 points and 13 rebounds in Sumter Central’s Class 5A, Area 6 win. The win clinched the area for third-ranked Sumter Central (18-4, 5-0).

Fred Seals also scored 18 points.

 

Aliceville 58,

Hale County 56

MOUNDVILLE | Javoris Mullins scored 24 points and Aliceville escaped with a Class 2A, Area 7 road win against Hale County.

Joe Robinson added 10 points for the Yellow Jackets.

Hale County’s Blake Williams scored 15. Rod Arnold and Xavier Crispin each had 11.

 

Tuscaloosa County 55, Walker 50

JASPER | Justice Green scored 17 points to lead Tuscaloosa County’s win over Walker.

Christopher Johnson finished with 12 points and Que Hall had 11.

Matt McKay had 10 points for Walker.

 

Paul W. Bryant 58,

Brookwood 33

BROOKWOOD | Kevin Holland had 16 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Class 5A’s No. 2-ranked team to an area win.

David Freeman scored 14 points off the bench with four 3-pointers for Paul W. Bryant (24-3, 6-0).

Cody Gaither scored 14 points for Brookwood.

 

North River Christian 86,

Victory Christian 68

COLUMBUS, Miss. | Five players scored in double digits, including two with double-doubles, in North River Christian Academy’s win at Victory Christian.

Josh Harris scored 18, LaCedrick Rice scored 16, LaDerrick Rice scored 13, Matthew Robertson had 13 points and 12 rebounds and Jeremiah Cousette had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Chargers (12-1).

 

Holt 79,

Fayette County 52

HOLT | Ladarious Toney scored 17 points to lead Holt in a Class 3A, Area 7 win.

Zay Jackson had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Devonte Jenkins and Jailon Foster each had 11 points.

Fayette County’s Will Redmond had 22 points.

 

Greensboro 81,

Francis Marion 58

GREENSBORO | Four players reached double figures in scoring in Greenboro’s win over Francis Marion, with Kavoris Owens leading the way with 17 points.

Keimondre Turner added 13 points. Donald King and Jimmie Taylor each scored 11.

Francis Marion’s Arthur Johnson scored 17, while Jalen Kelly had 11.

 

Linden 77,

A.L. Johnson 50

THOMASTON | Imoras Agee scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds and Nicholas Rogers had 10 points and 10 rebounds in No. 5-ranked Linden’s win at A.L. Johnson.

Other top scorers for the Patriots were Chris Rogers with 14 points and Shauka Reese with 12.

Linden is now 18-1.
