GIRLS ROUNDUP: English leads ACA past Northside


SAMANTHA | Ally English had 13 points and five rebounds to lead American Christian Academy in a 42-30 win over Northside in high school girls basketball action Friday night.

Chandler Dare had nine points and five steals for ACA (10-9, 4-1 Class 3A, Area 7).

Northside’s Ryleigh Malone scored 14 points.

 

Paul W. Bryant 45,

Brookwood 38

BROOKWOOD | Marquanda Sanders led Paul W. Bryant (11-11, 4-2) to its fourth Class 5A, Area 7 win with 24 points against Brookwood.

Brookwood’s Benita Lee and Caitlin Headrick each scored nine points.

 

Tuscaloosa County 45, Walker 43

JASPER | Three players hit double figures in a Tuscaloosa County (12-8) win over Walker.

Kendra Conner scored 16 points while Katie Krout added 13. After scoring 28 points in the previous game, Shakirra Thomas finished with 10 against Walker.

 

Greensboro 63,

Francis Marion 45

GREENSBORO | For Greensboro (17-6), Elexis Evans finished with a triple-double in a win over Francis Marion. Evans had 14 points, 12 rebounds and 15 blocks.

Malesha Williams had 26 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Shawndrel Watford added 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Francis Marion’s Chelsea Williams scored 14 points.

 

Lamar County 57, Gordo 11

GORDO | Malika Swanigan led on offense and defense for Lamar County (12-4), scoring 25 points and coming away with 22 steals in a win over Gordo.

Kelsey Miles added 11 points.

Gordo’s Tuanyah Summerville had six points.

 

Southern Academy 44, Sumter Academy 16

GREENSBORO | Shelbie Clary led Southern Academy (11-10) in its win over Sumter Academy, scoring 20 points.

Sumter Academy’s Shelbie Fast had eight points.

 

Sumter Central 36, Selma 32

LIVINGSTON | Shaquala Bryant and Sarabi Jemsion combined for 30 of Sumter Central’s 36 points in the Class 5A, Area 6 win over Selma.

Bryant had 17 and Jemison scored 13 points.

Selma’s Kendra McCovery had 10 points.

 

Holy Spirit 53,

South Lamar 16

TUSCALOOSA | Tamera Giles scored 17 and Sapphire Ajoloko 12 points to lead Holy Spirit (18-6) in a 53-16 home win.

Hanna Cox was South Lamar’s scoring leader with 11 points.
