GIRLS ROUNDUP: Pickens Academy deals Marengo Academy first loss

LINDEN | Led by Elisabeth Hankins and Marion Colvin, the Pickens Academy girls basketball team defeated Marengo Academy 45-40 on Monday.
Pickens Academy (13-2) was ranked No. 10 in the latest AISA poll by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.
Marengo Academy, which sustained its first loss, was ranked No. 5.
Hankins finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Colvin had 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Chandler Stenz had 15 points to lead Marengo Academy.
Brooke Smyly finished with 11 points.
Pickens Academy plays at home at 5:30 this afternoon, facing Restoration Academy.
Southern Academy 46, Restoration 45, 3OT
GREENSBORO | Southern Academy’s Shelbie Clary made one of two foul shots with 6.5 seconds left in the third overtime. Restoration Academy missed a desperation shot as time expired.
Clary had 23 points to lead Southern Academy (9-9). Eighth-grader Makayla Swindal added 11 points. Ashlyn Hamilton added six points. Katlyn Tidmore and Kelli Montz each hit a 3-point shot for the Lady Cougars. Only five players saw action for Southern Academy.
Restoration Academy’s Adrian Dancy had 24 points, and Sharease Lee scored 11.
The score was tied at 36 at the end of regulation; at 39 after the first overtime; and at 43 after the second overtime.
Southern Academy plays at Meadowview Christian in Selma tonight.
