GIRLS ROUNDUP: Bryant gets area win at McAdory


MCADORY | Jade Ledet scored 15 points for Paul W. Bryant as the Stampede took a 55-53 win over McAdory in a Class 5A, Area 7 game in girls high school basketball action on Friday.

Bria Smith and Tila Green contributed eight points each.

McAdory’s Mya Glover and Kaneisha Green each scored 10 points.

Paul W. Bryant (7-8, 2-1) travels to Greensboro at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

 

Lamar County 38,

Caledonia (Miss.) 13

VERNON | Melika Swanigan scored 18 points to lead Lamar County. Keeli Bobbit added eight points.

Lamar County (7-1) hosts Haleyville today at 5 p.m.

 

Holy Spirit 45, Berry 31

BERRY | Tamera Giles scored 15 points for Holy Spirit in a Class 1A, Area 8 win against Berry.

Kadesia Ash finished with 10 points for the Lady Titans.

Emma Herren led Berry with 16 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Taylor Jones had eight points and eight rebounds.

Berry (13-2, 3-1) plays at Meek today at noon.

 

Tuscaloosa Christian 52, Flint Hill 9

COTTONDALE | Savannah Logan scored 16 points in Tuscaloosa Christian’s win over Flint Hill. Holly Chandler contributed 10 points.

Tuscaloosa Christian (8-2) plays at North River Christian next Friday at 6 p.m.

 

Brookwood 65,

Gordo 8

GORDO | Brookwood led 46-0 at halftime. Caitlin Headrick and Benita Lee were the leading scorers with 13 points apiece for Brookwood. For Gordo, Janequa Colvin and Aaliyah Cousette both scored three points.

Brookwood (10-5) hosts McAdory on Tuesday in a Class 5A, Area 5 game.

 

Pickens Academy 35,

Clarke Prep 10

GROVE HILL | Marion Colvin scored nine points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Marianna Pratt added seven points to lead Pickens Academy.

Natalie Overstreet led Clarke Prep with eight points.

Pickens Academy (10-1) will host Southern Academy at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

 

Sumter Central 46,

Demopolis 36

DEMOPOLIS | Shaquala Bryant had 11 points, 16 rebounds, eight steals, three blocks and two assists, and Haven Moore had 16 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals to lead visiting Sumter Central.

Ivory Moore and Caleb Washington led Demopolis with nine points apiece.

Sumter Central (14-4, 2-0) faces Demopolis again in its next game as the Lady Tigers will travel to Sumter Central on Jan. 15 in another AHSAA Class 5A, Area 6 matchup.

 

Southern Academy 57, South Choctaw Academy 28

TOXEY | Shelbie Clary scored 29 points to lead the way as Southern Academy defeated South Choctaw Academy.

Eighth-grader Bess Jay added eight points.

Madison Fikes scored eight points to lead South Choctaw.

Southern Academy (8-6) plays at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Pickens Academy.
