BOYS ROUNDUP: Bradford leads Pickens County past Holy Spirit

REFORM | Senior guard Bobby Bradford scored 18 points Thursday, and the Pickens County Tornadoes defeated Holy Spirit 74-50 in a Class 1A, Area 8 game.

Bradford had eight rebounds, five assists and five steals to help the Tornadoes improve to 6-3 overall, 4-0 in Class 1A, Area 8.

Darius Jones added 15 points, five steals, four rebunds and two assists. Devonte Simon had 12 points, eight assists, three rebounds, and one steal. Laron Thomas scored 12 points and had three rebounds and two assists.

Holy Spirit’s Jordan Giles scored 17 points. Kam Swift scored 16.

Pickens County plays Fayette County tonight in Fayette.


Greensboro 80, Sunshine 69

AKRON | Four players scored in double figures as the Greensboro Raiders defeated Sunshine in the Hale County Tournament.

Kavoris Owens had 24 points and seven blocks to help the Raiders improve to 14-1. Jimmie Taylor, a 6-foot-9 senior and University of Alabama signee, had 16 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots. Jamarcus Gray went 4-for-6 on 3-point tries and scored 16 points. Donald King had 13 points and seven assists.

Greensboro plays in the championship game at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Akron. The Raiders will play the winner of tonight’s game between Hale County and Akron.


South Lamar 67, Hatley (Miss.) 59

MILLPORT | Holden Fields scored 22 points and collected 11 rebounds in leading the South Lamar Stallions past Hatley of Mississippi.

Dade Cole added 16 points and eight rebounds for South Lamar (4-6). Jydarren Cox finished with 11 points.

South Lamar plays at Hackleburg tonight.
