BOYS ROUNDUP: Northridge beats Leeds at tournament


 HOOVER | Northridge's boys basketball team built a four-point lead in Friday’s game in Hoover’s Big Orange Classic and picked up a 60-59 victory as Leeds hit a 3-pointer just before time expired.

C’yontai Lewis had 19 points and nine rebounds for Northridge (8-11). Bo Scarbrough had 15 points and six rebounds.

Northridge split two tournament games on Thursday, beating Selma 51-41 and losing to Shelby County 62-51.

Lewis had 20 points and eight rebounds against Selma. Teboris Leatherwood, who scored 11 points, had five assists and four rebounds.

Leatherwood scored 13 points against Shelby County. Lewis had 10 points.

Northridge plays McGill-Toolen at 1:30 this afternoon.

Tuscaloosa County 84, Stanhope Elmore 35

BIRMINGHAM | Twelve players dressed out for Tuscaloosa County in a tournament at Oak Mountain High School, and 10 ended up scoring in the Wildcats’ victory.

Justice Green had 17 points to lead the Wildcats (13-3). Que Hall added 11 points, and Joseph Diadone scored nine.

TCHS plays Oak Mountain in the championship game at 6 tonight.

 

Sipsey Valley 53,

Itawamba, Miss. 41

WINFIELD | Jamarius Leatherwood scored 21 points, and the Sipsey Valley Bears won in Winfield’s tournament.

Rasheed Worrell had 17 points, 11 rebound and eight blocked shots for the Bears (13-3). Palmer Cabaniss dished out five assists.

Sipsey Valley is scheduled to play Hamilton at 11:20 this morning and Phil Campbell at 4:40 this afternoon.

 

Westminster Christian 63, American Christian 62

HUNTSVILLE | The American Christian Academy Patriots missed two 3-point attempts in the final 15 seconds and lost in the championship game of the Westminster Christian Christmas Tournament.

Carter McGill, who was named to the all-tournament team, scored 15 points to lead ACA (9-4). Tyler House had 13 points, Collin Crowe 12 and Blake Sanderson 11. Ross Hardin led the Patriots with 10 rebounds.

ACA will play at Parrish on Thursday.

Russell Christian 35

BUTLER | Pride Snow scored 17 points to lead the way for the Knights in the War on the Floor Tournament at Patrician Academy. Also, Kwuan Whitfield had eight points.

TA (13-1) plays Lamar Academy today at 4:30 p.m. in the tournament.

Berry 53

FAYETTE | In the consolation game of the Lions Club Tournament on Thursday, Keyon Jones led Fayette County with 16 points.

Neil Sullivan led Berry with 15 points and Tank Hollingsworth had 11.

Berry (4-9) plays Jan. 4 at home against Holy Spirit.
