GIRLS ROUNDUP: Shamary leads Aliceville win


ALICEVILLE | Katelyn Shamary scored 24 points with 10 rebounds and five steals as the Aliceville Yellow Jackets defeated R.C. Hatch 50-44 in girls high school basketball action Thursday night.

Alexis Garner added 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists. R.C. Hatch was led by Marci Howard with 18.

Aliceville (5-3, 2-1 in area play) plays at Sipsey Valley today at 4:45 p.m.

 

Sulligent 56, Oakman 7

SULLIGENT | Laura Dean scored a game-high 17 points for Sulligent, while Rain Coleman added 14 points to lead a rout of Oakman (1-6). Jarrecca Pope scored 10.

Sulligent (4-4) plays Haleyville on Saturday in Fayette at 5:30 p.m.

 

Pickens Acad. 38, Bessemer Acad. 14

BESSEMER | Marion Colvin scored nine points and added nine rebounds for Pickens Academy, while Elisabeth Hankins added eight points and nine rebounds. Kacy Noland added eight points and five steals. Bessemer’s Hannah Kitchens scored four points, as did Erin Harrison, to lead the Rebels.

Pickens Academy (7-1) next plays Lowndes Academy in Monroeville Friday at 6:30 p.m.

 

Northside 47, Fayette 42

FAYETTE | Ashton Welborn scored 22 points for Northside, while Ryleigh Malone added 10, and Alexis Williams scored seven. Fayette’s Hannah Winston scored 19, while McKayla Cobb added 13 for the Tigers (0-1).

Northside (1-7, 1-0 in area play) plays at Holt today at 5 p.m.

 

Greensboro 59, Gordo 12

GREENSBORO | Malesha Williams scored a game-high 21 points, adding five rebounds, four assists and seven steals. Brittany Edwards added 14 points and six steals for the Raiders.

Greensboro (3-3, 1-0 in area play) plays host to Greene County today at 5 p.m.

 

Berry 66, Hubbertville 32

BERRY | Emma Herren scored 27 points and had 14 steals to lead Berry, while Taylor Jones added 17. Summer Tucker led Hubbertville with 10 points.

Berry (7-0) plays today against Lynn at 4 p.m.
