TUSCALOOSA | Here is how some former Tuscaloosa-area high school athletes now competing at the collegiate level fared last week:

 

Football

 

East Central Community College sophomore quarterback/wide receiver Brock Hall (Paul W. Bryant High School) merited honorable mention on the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges all-state team.

 

Men’s basketball

 

Alabama A&M junior forward Demarquelle Tabb (Greensboro High School) collected his fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 rebounds in the Bulldogs’ 65-46 loss at Mercer on Saturday. Tabb added five blocked shots and two steals. The Bulldogs return to action Saturday at Vanderbilt.

Alabama-Huntsville freshman guard Wayne Dedrick (Hillcrest High School) is having a solid season for the Chargers. In eight games, he is averaging 11 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. He has five double-figure scoring games, including a season-high 16 points against West Alabama on Dec. 1. In his last game, Dedrick scored 12 points (3 for 4 3-pointers) in the 80-66 win over Trevecca Nazarene University on Saturday. For the season, Dedrick is shooting 47 percent from the floor and 43.2 percent from 3-point range.

Columbus State sophomore guard/forward Dimitri Davis (Tuscaloosa County High School) is averaging 7.8 points and 5.5 rebounds in six games.

East Central (Miss.) Community College Tejiminon Leatherwood (Northridge High School) averaged three points per game in losses to East Mississippi Community College and Northwest Mississippi Community College last week.

East Central (Miss.) Community College Keivondre Watford (Central High School) scored six points in the Warriors’ 82-72 loss to East Mississippi Community College last week.

Itawamba Community College sophomore forward Tre Wells (Hillcrest High School) tallied two points, one rebound and one assist in the Indians’ 64-59 win over Meridian Community College on Saturday.

Marion Military Institute sophomore guard Kenneth Tabb (Francis Marion High School) averaged 5.5 points, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 rebounds in two games last week for the Tigers. He scored eight points, two assists and two rebounds against William Carey on Dec. 4. He added three points and three steals against Lurleen B. Wallace on Dec. 6.

Northeastern sophomore forward Reggie Spencer (Hillcrest High School) averaged 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games last week against Massachusetts and LaSalle. He tallied 15 points (6 of 8 FG) and five rebounds in the 72-66 loss to UMass on Dec. 4. He added 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the 66-64 loss to LaSalle on Saturday.

Shelton State Community College sophomore guard Nick Browder (Hale County High School) scored a season-high six points in the Bucs’ 121-68 win over Sound Doctrine Prep on Saturday.

Shelton State Community College sophomore guard Derek Hamner (Hillcrest High School) averaged 8.7 points in three wins over Lurleen B. Wallace, Sound Doctrine Prep and Enterprise State last week. He scored 13 points (6 of 9 field goals) and grabbed two steals in the win over Wallace on Dec. 4. He chipped in 10 points and pulled down three rebounds in the win over Sound Doctrine Prep on Saturday.

Shelton State Community College sophomore forward Ladarius Tabb (Francis Marion High School) averaged 10.7 points per game in three games last week for the Bucs. He scored double figures in two of three wins against Lurleen B. Wallace, Sound Doctrine Prep and Enterprise State. He scored 14 points (6 of 9 FG) and grabbed four rebounds in the win over Wallace on Dec. 4. He added 10 points and three rebounds in the win over Enterprise State on Monday.

Shelton State Community College sophomore forward Sean Tingle (Brookwood High School) averaged 8.7 points in three games last week for the Bucs. He scored 14 points (6 of 9 FG) and added three rebounds and two steals in the win over Sound Doctrine Prep on Saturday. He added 12 points (5 of 8 FG) and eight rebounds in Monday night’s win over Enterprise State.

Shelton State Community College freshman guard Dylan Wint (Tuscaloosa County High School) scored three points in the Bucs’ 87-61 win over Enterprise State on Monday night.

Sioux Falls senior guard A.J. Holland (Paul W. Bryant High School) averaged 18.5 points in back-to-back conference losses road losses to Wayne (Neb.) State and Augustana (S.D.) State over the weekend. He scored a game-high 21 points (8 of 15 FG; 3 of 6 3s) in the 55-53 loss at Wayne State on Friday. He added 16 points, three assists, three steals and two rebounds in the 70-58 loss at Augustana on Saturday. He is averaging 10.7 points per game in seven games for the Cougars, with four double-figure games this season.

Stillman College junior guard Markeith Madison (Hillcrest High School) poured in a season-high 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the win the Tigers’ 100-94 win over Selma University on Saturday. It was his fourth double-figure game of the season.

Stillman College junior center Torrean Walker (Hillcrest High School) tallied 18 points and 12 rebounds (both season highs) in the Tigers’ 100-94 win over Selma University on Saturday.

West Alabama junior guard Sandy Underwood (Bibb County High School) leads the Tigers with 19.6 points and ranks second with 7.7 rebounds per game. After a two-week break for exams, the Tigers return to action on Saturday at Stillman College.

Wright State University sophomore center Tavares Sledge (Brookwood High School) scored six points and pulled down five rebounds in a 92-59 win over Virginia Military on Saturday. After a week off for final exams, Wright State returns the floor on Saturday at Hofstra.

 

Women’s basketball

 

Alabama junior guard Shafontaye Myers (Sunshine High School) tallied 12 points, four rebounds and three steals in the Crimson Tide’s 72-58 home loss to Chattanooga this past Saturday. After a week off for final exams, Alabama returns to action with a 2 p.m. game Saturday at Troy.

Judson College sophomore guard Abby Isom (Hillcrest High School) poured in a season-high 22 points against Point University last week. She made all eight free throw attempts and is making 93.8 percent of her foul shots.

Millsaps freshman forward Tori Morgan (Northridge High School) is averaging 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Majors this season. After a 10-day break for exams, Millsaps returns to action Thursday against Huntingdon College. Millsaps also plays Birmingham-Southern on Saturday and Dallas College on Dec. 19 before the holiday break.

Shelton State sophomore guard Juliser Harper (Livingston High School) averaged 3.7 points in the Lady Bucs’ three wins last week against Lurleen B. Wallace, Wallace-Selma and Enterprise State College. She tallied eight points, eight rebounds and three steals in the 99-54 win over Wallace-Selma on Saturday.

Shelton State freshman guard Kaitlyn Taylor (Holy Spirit High School) averaged 6.7 points in the Lady Bucs’ three wins last week. She scored nine points in win over Lurleen B. Wallace on Dec. 4 and Enterprise State on Monday. She made all four field goal attempts and collected four steals against Enterprise State.

Shelton State freshman center Shadijah Moore (Demopolis High School) recorded four points, eight rebounds and four assists in the Lady Bucs’ three wins last week over Lurleen B. Wallace, Wallace-Selma and Enterprise State.

Stillman sophomore guard Andrea Moore (Hillcrest High School) finished with 12 points and four steals as the Lady Tigers earned their initial win of the season with a 44-29 victory over Selma University on Saturday.

Stillman sophomore forward Morgan Henry (Paul W. Bryant High School) tallied three points and six rebounds in the Lady Tigers’ 44-29 win over Selma on Saturday.

 

Swimming and diving

 

Mars Hill sophomore Hudson Tucker (Brookwood High School) ranks among the NCAA Division II national leaders heading into the holiday break. Tucker ranks second nationally in the 100-yard backstroke, fifth in the 100 butterfly and 20th in the 100 freestyle.
