GIRLS ROUNDUP: Johnson’s 33 points carry Northridge

YORK | Kiana Johnson scored a game-high 33 points as Northridge beat Sumter Central 58-56 in girls high school basketball Tuesday night.

Keke Williams added nine points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks for Northridge (5-4).

Sumter Central (8-2) was led by Shaquala Bryant with 12 points, while Courtney Harris added 11.


Brookwood 42,

Bibb County 28

CENTREVILLE | Caitlin Headrick scored 15 points, while Ashley Brasher added 10 ofr Brookwood (4-3).

For Bibb County, Jonnita Henry scored 10.


Lamar County 63,

Oakman 19

OAKMAN | Malika Swanigan and Kelsey Myles each had 21 points for Lamar County. Swanigan added four steals.

Sidney Esch scored eight points to lead Oakman.


Hubbertville 41,

South Lamar 11

MILLPORT | Robin Hubbert led Hubbertville (1-4, 1-2 Class 1A, Area 8) with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Stormie Gray had nine points and nine rebounds.

Tiffany Hayden led South Lamar with seven points.


Berry 67, Northside 20

NORTHPORT | Freshman Taylor Jones finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds and Emma Herren scored 16 points and hauled in 10 rebounds for Berry (6-0).

Northside (0-6) was led by Ryleigh Malone’s 10 points.

Northside will face Fayette County on the road at 5 p.m. on Thursday, while Berry will host Hubbertville at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Paul W. Bryant 66,

Pickens County 18

REFORM | Bria Smith and Tila Green each scored 10 points for Bryant (4-3).

Pickens County (2-3) was led by Tyneithia Lanier’s five points.

Bryant will host Bibb County at 6 p.m. Thursday, while Pickens County plays at Holy Spirit at 5:30 p.m. Friday.


Marengo Academy 60,

Southern Academy 19

LINDEN | Brooke Smyly had 13 points and four assists to lead Marengo Academy (9-0).

Andrea Edmonds and Carolyne Baker each scored 10 points and Edmonds added nine rebounds and five assists.

Shelbie Clary and Katlyn Tidmore led Southern Academy (4-2) with six points each.


Central 69, Hale County 15

MOUNDVILLE | Shawntayla Harris scored 18 points to lead Central (9-0).

Toborsha Holley had 16 points and six steals, while Delisha Dent had 14 rebounds.

Rikera Chandler led Hale County with eight points.


Akron 63,

Greene County 45

AKRON | Dequandra Lyles had 23 points and Tangi Crews scored 20, while Zabrina Small scored 11 for Akron (4-4).

LovPrincess Harris had 21 rebounds.

Greene County was led by Brandi Eubanks with 12 points.


Hillcrest 52, Ramsey 38

BIRMINGHAM | Hillcrest’s Charity Brown and Ambrca Johnson each had 20 points to lead Hillcrest.

Olivia Chapman scored 18 points to lead Ramsey, while Takyla Blackburn added 12 points.

Hillcrest (6-3) will host Bessemer City at 6 p.m. Friday.
