BOYS ROUNDUP: Snow leads Knights to overtime victory

TUSCALOOSA | Pride Snow nailed a 3-pointer to force overtime and added eight more points in the extra period to help the Tuscaloosa Academy boys basketball team defeat Tuscaloosa Christian 66-63 on Monday.
Tuscaloosa Christian missed on a 3-point try as time expired.
Snow hit a 3-point shot to tie it at 54 with 4 seconds left in the fourth quarter. In overtime, Tuscaloosa Christian held a four-point lead, but Snow made a 3-pointer. When the Knights (8-1) got the ball back, Carter Standeffer hit a 3-pointer.
Snow finished with 19 points. Jaevon Walton came off the bench to score 11 points. Standeffer and Sam Brown had 10 points each. Standeffer had four points in overtime.
Tyler Foust had 19 points for Tuscaloosa Christian (5-2). Trent Gibson, who went 7 for 7 from the foul line, scored 19 points and had eight rebounds. Nathan Liberto had 14 points.
Tuscaloosa Christian plays at Chilton Christian at 7 tonight in Jemison.
The Knights will host the Tuscaloosa Academy Invitational Friday and Saturday. In the boys bracket, Morgan Academy plays Patrician Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, with Tuscaloosa Academy facing Wayne Academy from Mississippi at 7:30 p.m. The consolation game will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday with the championship game at 6.
Paul W. Bryant 76,
TUSCALOOSA | Paul W. Bryant, the No. 3-ranked team in Class 5A, opened Area 7 play with a victory over McAdory.
Kevin Holland led the Stampede (7-1) with 15 points. James Currington had 14 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots. Dexter Hood scored 14 points and had five assists.
McAdory’s Zack Davis had 18 points, and Marcel Moorer scored 13.
Bryant plays Pickens County in Reform tonight.
Tuscaloosa County 69, Hueytown 56
HUEYTOWN | Led by Que Hall, the Wildcats claimed a road victory.
Hall had 18 points to help the Wildcats improve to 8-1. Justice Green scored 15 points, Justin Guy 12 and Javel Bailey 10.
Hueytown’s Brandon Hester had 20 points.
Pickens County 68,
GORDO | Pickens County, the defending Class 1A champion, got its second win of the season by defeating Gordo.
Darius Jones and Bobby Bradford had 16 points each for Pickens County (2-0). Bradford had nine rebounds, nine steals and three assists. Devonte Simon had 12 points, seven steals and three assists.
Dee White, Alandis Smith and DeAnthony Pruitt had nine points each for Gordo (0-1).
Holy Spirit 50,
West Blocton 32
TUSCALOOSA | Jordan Giles scored 16 points and collected 13 rebounds in Holy Spirit’s victory over West Blocton.
Cam Swift added 11 points for Holy Spirit (5-4). Noah Sutton scored 10.
West Blocton’s Steven Thrasher had 11 points.
Akron 50, Aliceville 43
AKRON | Henry Hunter and Quin Jeffery combined for 36 points for Akron.
Hunter led the Rams (3-4) with 21 points. Jeffery had 15.
Akron plays at home tonight against Greene County.
