BOYS ROUNDUP: Hillcrest beats Gadsden City


TUSCALOOSA | Four players scored in double figures to lead Hillcrest to a 73-68 home win against Gadsden City on Saturday.

Rayshawn Tubbs scored 16, Quenton Cross scored 15, Jarad Pruitt had 13 points and James Thomas 11 for the Patriots.

Jeff Garrett and Tevin Wise each scored 15 for Gadsden City.

Hillcrest (5-3) plays at Ramsay on Tuesday.

 

Fairhope 50,

Sipsey Valley 48

FAIRHOPE | AHSAA Class 3A Sipsey Valley came close to knocking off Class 6A Fairhope, but the Pirates scored the winning basket with 1.5 seconds remaining.

Nate Andrews was Fairhope’s leading scorer with 13 points.

Jamarius Leatherwood led Sipsey Valley with 12 points and four assists. Garret Lewis, Braylan Smith, Juston Smith-Wells and Rasheed Worrell each scored nine points, with Worrell grabbing 18 rebounds.

Sipsey Valley (6-3) opens Class 3A, Area 6 play on Tuesday when it travels to Gordo for a 7:30 p.m. game.

 

Tuscaloosa Academy 50,

Hooper Academy 40

TUSCALOOSA | Pride Snow scored 20 points and pulled down eight rebounds and Carter Standeffer scored 12 for Tuscaloosa Academy.

Darius Bennett led Hooper Academy with 20 points.

Tuscaloosa Academy (7-1) will host Tuscaloosa Christian at 2 p.m. Monday.

 

Holy Spirit 61,

St. Bernard Prep 52

BIRMINGHAM | Jordan Giles scored 14, Noah Sutton scored 13 and Danner Young had nine points and six assists for the Titans.

For St. Bernard, Dean Smith made six 3-point shots to end the game with 18 points. Jadavian Roland also scored 18 points.

Holy Spirit (4-4) plays at West Blocton at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

 

Sumter Central 61,

Greene County 43

EUTAW | Dayvon Maye scored 18 points, and Fred Seals had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Sumter Central.

Brandon Williams led Greene County with 13 points.

Sumter Central (8-1) hosts Northridge at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

 

Hale County 64,

Akron 57

AKRON | Rodriquez Arnold’s 16 points led Hale County.

Akron had three players in double figures, led by Henry Hunter with 17, Quinn Jeffreys with 16 and Demarcus Morris with 14.

Akron (2-6) hosts Aliceville on Monday.

 

Pickens Academy 45,

Marengo Academy 32

GREENSBORO | Pickens Academy (1-4) reached the championship game of the Southern Academy Christmas Tournament.

Josh Lewis led Pickens Academy with 16 points, while Oliver Owens and Hunter Booth both scored eight points.

Cason Cook led Marengo Academy and all scorers with 17 points.

Pickens Academy played Morgan Academy for the championship Saturday. Marengo Academy plays in the consolation final against Southern Academy.

 

Tuscaloosa Christian 72,

Tabernacle Christian 59

COTTONDALE | Trent Gibson’s 17 points and nine rebounds led Tuscaloosa Christian on Friday.

Tyler Foust scored 14 points and dished out eight assists, and David Pearce scored 12 points in the Warriors’ win.

Tuscaloosa Christian (4-1) plays at Tuscaloosa Academy at 2 p.m. Monday.
