BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Titans hold off South Lamar

MILLPORT | South Lamar’s Blake Mitchell hit back-to-back 3-pointers to bring the Stallions within three with less than a minute to play, but Holy Spirit (3-4) hit 6 of 7 free throws to hold on for a 63-56 win Friday night in boys high school basketball action.
Holy Spirit was led by Danner Young and Cameron Swift with 15 points each. Noah Sutton also added 11 points.
Dave Cole led South Lamar with 18 points and Holden Fields added 14 points while Mitchell finished with 11.
Holy Spirit will play St. Bernard on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Beacon of Hope Classic.
Tuscaloosa County 68, Chilton County 37
CLANTON | Tuscaloosa County (7-1) won its seventh game in a row, blowing out Chilton County on the road.
The Wildcats were led by Que Hall and Justice Green, who each scored 11 points.
Tuscaloosa County will travel to face Hueytown on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Northridge 65, Brookwood 32
TUSCALOOSA | Cyontai Lewis scored 18 points and Jamorian Hill added 11 points to lead Northridge (3-6) on Friday night.
Cody Gaither led Brookwood (0-11) with 20 points.
Northridge will travel to face Sumter Central on Tuesday at 7 p.m. while Brookwood travels to face Bibb County on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Morgan Academy 73, Southern Academy 47
GREENSBORO | Southern Academy (3-1) dropped the opening game of the Southern Academy Christmas Tournament for their first loss of the year.
Southern Academy was led by Jacob Rose’s 18 points and Hunter Clements scored 15 points.
Morgan Academy was led by Dalton Lee and Ford Manderson, who scored 20 and 19 points, respectively.
Southern Academy will face Marengo Academy at 9:30 a.m. today for the consolation game at Southern Academy.
Aliceville 50, Hale County 42
ALICEVILLE | Aliceville’s Anfernee Mullins scored 19 points and hauled in 10 rebounds to lead Aliceville (2-2) on Friday night.
Joe Robinson also contributed for the Yellow Jackets with 12 points.
Hale County (1-2) was led by Rod Arnold, who scored 16 points and P.D Lavender finished with 8 points.
Aliceville will travel to face Akron at 7 p.m. on Monday while Hale County will travel to face Akron today.
Greensboro 75, Akron 45
GREENSBORO | Greensboro’s Jimmie Taylor scored 18 points to help the Raiders (4-1) cruise to an easy victory on Friday night.
Donald King and Keimondre Turner scored 15 and 11 points, respectively, for Greensboro.
Johnny Tubbs led Akron with 13 points while Henry Hunter and Demarcus Morse each finished with 10 points.
Greensboro will host Gordo on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Berry 54, Hubbertville 51
HUBBERTVILLE | Neil Sullivan hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with six seconds left to play to lift Berry (2-3 overall, 1-1 area) on Friday night in a Class 1A, Area 8 game.
Sullivan finished with 17 points and Blake Abernathy had 17 points and 17 rebounds. Weston Bonner also added 11 points for Berry.
Hubbertville (1-2 overall, 0-2 area) was led by Dax Benton with 18 points while David Aldridge scored 12 points and Bess Benton had 11 points.
Berry will travel to face Northside on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Bayside Academy 58, Sipsey Valley 42
DAPHNE | AHSAA Class 3A No. 7 ranked Bayside Academy (8-2) was led by Spence Newman’s 26 points in a 58-42 home win against visiting Sipsey Valley.
Sipsey Valley’s Garret Lewis scored 10 points, pulled down six rebounds and made three steals. Rasheed Worrell joined him in double digit scoring with 10 points. Braylin Smith led Sipsey Valley with three assists.
Sipsey Valley (6-2), which is Class 3A, faces another challenge today beginning at 3:30 p.m. when it plays at Class 6A Fairhope.
