BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Berry outlasts Holy Spirit

TUSCALOOSA | Berry (1-2, 0-1 area) turned the ball over with 3.3 seconds left and Kam Swift made a layup at the buzzer to seal a 72-67 victory for Holy Spirit (2-3, 1-0 area) Tuesday night in high school boys basketball.
Holy Spirit was led by Jordan Giles with 16 points, and Swift had 13 points. William David added 12 points for the Titans.
Neil Sullivan scored 27 points for Berry and Weston Bonner and Terrance "Tank" Hollingsworth scored 17 and 11 points, respectively.
Berry will travel to face Parrish at 6 p.m. Thursday, while Holy Spirit will travel to South Lamar at 7 p.m. Friday.
Tuscaloosa Academy 59, Morgan Academy 48
SELMA | Tuscaloosa Academy led from start to finish.
Pride Snow led the win with 15 points and eight rebounds. Sam Brown scored nine points and made five steals.
Conner Henderson led Morgan Academy and all scorers with 19 points.
Tuscaloosa Academy (5-1) returns home to host Patrician Academy at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Southern Academy 55, Clarke Prep 44
GROVE HILL | Hunter Clements scored 16 points for Southern Academy.
The Cougars’ Jacob Rose had 14 points and Dylan Bamberg scored 13. John Michael Richey added 15 rebounds.
Trey Larrimore led Clarke Prep with 19 points.
Southern Academy will host Morgan Academy at 7:15 p.m. Friday in the Southern Academy Christmas Tournament.
Hubbertville 60, Brilliant 53
HUBBERTVILLE | Eighth-grader Dax Benton scored 18 points to help Hubbertville (2-0) hold on after taking a double-digit halftime lead.
Vess Benton also scored 15 points and hauled in nine rebounds, while David Aldridge added 12 points. Aaron Dillard scored seven points and had 10 rebounds, 10 assists and six steals.
Brilliant’s Chance Key led with 21 points, and Dawson Cotton scored 10.
Hubbertville will travel to Pickens County at 7 p.m. Thursday.
