BOYS ROUNDUP: Bears improve to 6-1

SAMANTHA | Juston Smith-Wells scored 19 points, and the Sipsey Valley boys basketball team improved to 6-1 with a 53-38 win over Northside on Monday.

Jamarius Leatherwood had 13 points for Sipsey Valley. Rasheed Worrell posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Braylan Smith dished out four assists for the Bears.

Northside’s Zarrian Grant scored 22 points.

Sipsey Valley plays Bayside Academy in Daphne on Friday.

Northside (4-2) has a week off before playing at home against Berry next Tuesday.


North River Christian 74, Pickens Academy 37

TUSCALOOSA | Four players scored in double figures as North River Christian Academy defeated Pickens Academy.

LaCedric Rice had 17 points to lead the Chargers (2-1). Josh Harris had 14 points and nine rebounds. LaDerick Rice scored 13 points, and Patrick Prude had 10.

Matthew Robertson, who had six points, grabbed 11 rebounds. Michael Robertson, who scored four points, had 10 rebounds.

Pickens Academy’s Josh Lewis scored 15 points.

North River Christian Academy plays at home Thursday against the Tuscaloosa Home Educators.


Southern Academy 55,

Meadowview Christian 54

GREENSBORO | Southern Academy held on for a one-point victory as Meadowview Christian hit a 3-pointer just before time expired.

Hunter Clements had 21 points to lead Southern Academy (2-0). Dylan Bamberg added 16 points.

Meadowview Christian’s Dylan Lawrence scored 23 points, and Travis Stacey added 18.

Southern Academy plays at Clarke Prep tonight in Grove Hill.
