GIRLS ROUNDUP: Sipsey Valley shuts down Northside

SAMANTHA | Tamira May scored 12 points Monday to lead the Sipsey Valley High School girls basketball team to a 48-22 win over Northside.

Marquanda Anderson added 10 points for Sipsey Valley (3-2).

Kayla Rice had nine points for Northside (0-6). Ashton Welborn scored eight.

Sipsey Valley plays at home Friday against Central.


Marengo Academy 47, Jackson Academy 15

JACKSON | The Marengo Academy Lady Longhorns ran their record to 4-0 with a win over Jackson Academy.

Marengo Academy’s Brooke Smyly had 14 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots. Chandler Stenz had 11 points, four assists and three steals. Katie Tucker had 10 points. Andrea Edmonds had seven points. Anna Michael Crocker had three points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Laken Harvey scored 11 points to lead Jackson Academy.

Marengo Academy plays Meadowview Christian tonight in Selma.


Southern Academy 46, Meadowview Christian 14

GREENSBORO | Shelbie Clary scored a game-high 16 points in Southern Academy’s win.

Delaine Hood added eight points for Southern Academy (2-0). Katlyn Tidmore had seven points, six rebounds and three steals. Ashlyn Hamilton had six points, six rebounds and two steals.

Meadowview Christian’s Heather Smith had five points.

Southern Academy plays Clarke Prep tonight in Grove Hill.


Pickens Academy 48, North River Christian 21

TUSCALOOSA | Elisabeth Hankins scored 11 points and collected eight rebounds in Pickens Academy’s win.

Kacy Noland had 10 points and five steals for the Lady Pirates (3-0). Abigail Colvin had nine points and 13 rebounds. Marion Colvin had six points and 10 rebounds.

North River Christian Academy’s Kourtnie Blythe scored nine points.

Pickens Academy plays Patrician Academy in Butler tonight.
