ROUNDUP: Bryant’s double-double leads Central girls

LIVINGSTON | Shaquala Bryant had a double-double, scoring 20 points and pulling down 12 rebounds, to lead the Sumter Central girls basketball team to a 58-26 home win against Greene County on Saturday. Also scoring in double figures for the Lady Jaguars was Khadijah Thomas with 12 points. Thomas led the team with six assists.
Brandi Eubanks led Greene County with eight points.
Sumter Central (7-1) and Greene County get a rematch next Saturday when Greene County hosts the Lady Jaguars.
Hale County 34
MOUNDVILLE | Malesha Williams scored a game-high 32 points for Greensboro on Friday.
Zania Wiggins added 12 points. Shawnderyl Watford had eight points. Jashundra Hoskins scored six points.
Hale County’s Gabrielle Steele had 13 points.
Hale County (0-3) plays at Aliceville in a Class 2A, Area 7 game on Friday at 6:15 p.m.
Greensboro (1-3) hosts Akron at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
SAMANTHA | Lindsey Harbison had 22 points in Oakman’s win over Northside in the consolation game of the Northside Tournament on Friday.
Northside’s Kayla Rice scored 16 points. Ashton Welborn had 10 points.
Ryleigh Malone had seven points.
Northside (0-5) hosts Sipsey Valley on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Oak Grove 22
BUHL | Marquanba Anderson scored 20 points to lead Sipsey Valley on Friday.
Savannah Armstead finished with 10 points.
Oak Grove’s Andrea Anthony scored 15 points.
Sipsey Valley (2-2) plays at Northside at 5:30 p.m.
West Blocton 12
SAMANTHA | In the championship game of the Northside tournament Friday, Emma Herren led Berry with 16 points, 10 steals and seven rebounds.
Taylor Jones had eight rebounds and eight points, and Rayanna Clark had 11 rebounds and six points.
The leading scorers for West Blocton, both with three points, were Lora Wallace and Becca Smith.
Berry (2-0) opens AHSAA Class 1A, Area 8 play on Tuesday at Holy Spirit at 5:30 p.m.

Greene County 43
LIVINGSTON | Jykwentin Johnson scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds on Saturday to power Sumter Central.
Fred Seals scored 18 points in the Jaguars’ win.
Tevin Merriweather scored 19 points and Darius Hall eight for Greene County.
The two teams face one another once again next Saturday when Sumter Central (8-1) travels to Greene County for its next game.
