Parrish edges Sipsey Valley in tourney

HALEYVILLE | The Sipsey Valley High School boys basketball team lost to Parrish 48-47 Wednesday in the Haleyville Thanksgiving Tournament.
Sipsey Valley’s Garret Lewis made a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to one point in the closing seconds. The Bears got two more opportunities for shots but weren’t able to make a winning basket.
Lewis scored 18 points to lead the Bears (1-1). Rasheed Worrell had his second straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Braylan Smith dished out six assists.
Tyler Sims had 15 points to lead Parrish (3-0). Jermichael Harris scored 12.
Sipsey Valley continues tournament play with a game against Winston County at 1:30 this afternoon.
