GIRLS ROUNDUP: Holley is MVP as Central win Bryant tourney

COTTONDALE | Toborsha Holley won MVP honors as Central (6-0) won the Paul W. Bryant Thanksgiving Tournament, beating Sipsey Valley 63-35 on Tuesday night.
Holley finished with 13 points and four assists. Jerlissa Matthews had 14 points, and Arbrisha Armstrong added 12 points with 10 rebounds and six blocks.
Sipsey Valley was led by Marquanda Anderson’s 12 points, and Carlena McKinstry scored 11.
Central will travel to face Brookwood on Nov. 30 at 6 p.m.
Central’s D’Leisha Dent and Lawanda Maddix joined Holley on the all-tournament team, as did Sipsey Valley’s Victoria Murray and Anderson.
Tuscaloosa Academy 41,
Wayne Academy 28
WAYNESBORO, Miss. | Krissy Pruitt made five 3-pointers for Tuscaloosa Academy (2-0) and led all scorers with 26 points. She had six rebounds and made 7 of 10 foul shots.
Chassiti Kimbrell added four points.
Tuscaloosa Academy hosts Restoration Academy at 6 p.m. Monday.
Carbon Hill 35
CARBON HILL | Sulligent (2-0) won on the road thanks to a strong performance by senior Laura Dean.
Dean led all scorers with 20 points, and Miracle Bonman added seven points for Sulligent.
Carbon Hill was led by Lindsay Fluker’s nine points.
Tuscaloosa County 59,
Phil Campbell 35
HALEYVILLE | Freshman Katie Krout had a double-double to lead Tuscaloosa County (1-0) in the opening game of the Haleyville Thanksgiving Tournament.
Krout finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Kendra Conner had 13 points, while Shakirra Thomas scored 11 points.
Phil Campbell was led by Hope Cooke’s 13 points.
Tuscaloosa County will face Haleyville at 10:30 this morning.
Sumter Central 47,
LIVINGSTON | Kahdijah Thomas scored 19 points and Haven Moore added nine to lead Sumter Central (3-0) over Brookwood.
Brookwood was led by Caitlin Headrick’s 19 points, and Benita Lee scored 10 points.
Sumter Central will face Francis Marion at 4 p.m. on Friday in the Keith Thanksgiving Tournament.
Paul W. Bryant 29
TUSCALOOSA | Shameka Tubbs scored 16 points to lead Northridge to a win over Paul W. Bryant in the Bryant Thanksgiving Tournament consolation game.
For Bryant, Jaida Hughes had 10 points.
Tubbs and Hughes each made the all-tournament team.
Bryant (1-3) and Northridge will face each other again at Northridge at 6:15 p.m. on Nov. 30.
Holt 38, Hale County 25
HOLT | Dtone Cox had 10 points as Holt defeated Hale County.
Kaneisha Maddox had eight points for Holt, and Haleigh Shaw scored seven.
For Hale County, Gabrielle Steele scored 14 and Claire Rose scored five.
Holt (2-1) will next play at Hillcrest at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Hale County (0-1) will host Brookwood at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
