BOYS ROUNDUP: Rice leads Central win


TUSCALOOSA | Terrance Rice scored a team-high 13 points in the Central Falcons’ 60-49 win Friday night over Northridge in boys high school basketball action.

Javoris Richey scored 10 points and had seven assists.

Cyonta Lewis scored 12 points for Northridge.

Central (4-1) plays at Brookwood on Friday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m.

 

Paul W. Bryant 45, Hillcrest 41

TUSCALOOSA | Trailing by 10 going into the fourth period, Paul W. Bryant made a late-game run to defeat visiting Hillcrest. The Stampede made a 26-13 second-half run to fuel the win.

James Currington led Paul W. Bryant with 13 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks. Dexter Hood was next high scorer with eight.

Hillcrest’s James Thomas led all scorers with 34 points.

Paul W. Bryant remains undefeated at 5-0 as it prepares for its next game which will be on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. at Northridge.

 

Northside 74, Oak Grove 65

OAK GROVE | Zarrian Grant and Hayden Long led Northside with 27 points apiece in the Rams’ 74-65 win at Oak Grove in the Rams’ season opener.

Long’s scoring included making seven 3-point baskets. Patrick Gear had eight points and 10 rebounds,and Andrew Robertson scored eight points.

Jonah Todd led Oak Grove and all scorers with 30 points. Griff Garner scored 14.

Northside (1-0) plays at Holy Spirit on Monday at 8:30 p.m. in the Titan Thanksgiving Tournament.

 

Sulligent 70, South Lamar 66

MILLPORT | Deon Jenkins scored 17 points for Sulligent (1-0) as the Blue Devils edged South Lamar.

Drea Massey contributed 11 points for Sulligent.

South Lamar’s Jydarren Cox scored 22 points with five rebounds.

Holden Fields had 20 points and six rebounds. Marquis Mitchell finished with 16 points.

South Lamar held a 36-31 halftime lead.

South Lamar (2-1) hosts Brilliant at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26.
