BOYS BASKETBALL: Holy Spirit falls to Altamont


TUSCALOOSA | Holy Spirit was unable to convert on two shot attempts with less than 30 seconds remaining as Altamont held on to beat the Titans 37-36 in high school basketball action Thursday night.  

The Titans missed with less than nine seconds left, then were unable score again with 1.2 seconds left after an out of bounds call on Altamont.

Kam Swift had nine points for Holy Spirit, and Jordan Giles had seven points.

For Altamont (1-2), Brindon Sutton had 15 points and Oliver Robinson scored six.

Holy Spirit (1-1) will host the Titan Thanksgiving Tournament next week.

Competing will be Northside, American Christian Academy and Pope John Paul II Catholic.

Holy Spirit’s first game will be against Northside at 8:30 p.m. Monday, and John Paul will play ACA at 7 p.m.

The girls division of the tournament starts at 4 p.m. Monday.

 

Northridge 45, Brookwood 29

BROOKWOOD | C’yontai Lewis scored 18 to lead Northridge to a season-opening win over Brookwood.

Also for Northridge (1-0), Teboris Leatherwood had seven points.

For Brookwood, C.J. Wilkerson scored 13 and Zach Lee scored seven.

Brookwood (0-5) will play at Sumter Central at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday

 

American Christian 58, Akron 46

AKRON | Collin Crowe scored 14 points to lead ACA to a win over Akron in the Rams’ opening game.

Carter McGill added 12 points for ACA, and Blake Sanderson had 10 rebounds.

ACA (2-0) will play in the Titan Thanksgiving Tournament at 7 p.m. Monday against Pope John Paul II Catholic at Holy Spirit.

Akron (0-1) will host Holt at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
