Linden's Robinson named Player of the Week

Anthony Robinson threw five touchdown passes and scored on a 56-yard punt return in Linden's win against Marengo.
As a senior quarterback, Anthony Robinson is expected to be a leader for the unbeaten Linden Patriots, who are ranked No. 2 in Class 1A.
Robinson proved himself to be a versatile leader Friday as the Linden Patriots beat Marengo 58-0. He threw five touchdown passes and scored on a 56-yard punt return to help Linden improve to 7-0. Linden was ranked No. 1 in Class 1A in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association poll.
Robinson completed 13 of 16 passes for 262 yards to help the Patriots lead 40-0 at halftime. For his efforts, Robinson earned High School Football Player of the Week honors from The Tuscaloosa News.
Several other players had standout performances to garner honorable mention:
n Jonathan Plott, Tuscaloosa Academy’s senior quarterback, threw three touchdowns passes as the Knights claimed the AISA Class AAA, Region 1 championship with a 44-23 win over Glenwood;
n Jaevon Walton of Tuscaloosa Academy rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Glenwood.
n Trey White of Sipsey Valley rushed for 101 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 40-16 win over Greene County.
n Josh Lewis, Pickens Academy quarterback, rushed for 166 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns in a 47-19 victory over Meadowview Christian. Lewis threw a touchdown pass and led the defense with nine tackles.
n David Robinson of Central intercepted two passes, went 3-for-4 on extra-point attempts and booted a 25-yard field goal in a 30-9 win over Paul W. Bryant.
n Lucas Webb of Tuscaloosa County scored on interception returns of 70 and 27 yards in a 35-13 win over Minor.
n Sebastian Hale of Demopolis had nine total tackles and recovered two fumbles in a 42-6 win over Sumter Central.
n Clancy Brown of Berry had 16 tackles and two sacks in a 22-6 win over Lynn.
n Jaylon Gaines of West Blocton: rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-14 win over Carbon Hill.
n Paul Erwin of Sunshine rushed for 126 yards on 15 carries and scored two touchdowns in a 46-6 victory over Holy Spirit.
n Gerald Sterling of Aliceville scored the winning touchdown on a 6-yard run with 2:46 left in a 49-46 victory over R.C. Hatch. Sterling ran for two touchdowns and had six tackles and two sacks.
