ROUNDUP: TCHS rallies past Central


NORTHPORT | The Tuscaloosa County High School volleyball team overcame losses in the first two games Monday and won three straight to pull out a victory over Central.

Central won the first two games by scores of 25-12 and 25-20. TCHS forced a fifth game by winning twice by scores of 25-17. The Lady Wildcats (10-13) won the match by posting a 15-11 victory in the final game.

Tuscaloosa County’s Jesslyn McNutt had seven kills. Jamie Robertson had seven kills, four blocks and three aces. Alex Smith had six kills and 10 digs. Savannah Helus had four kills and two blocks, and Katie Lightfoot had 17 digs.

Angelica Weatherspoon had 18 assists for the Lady Falcons (17-14). Alexis Reed had 11 kills and two blocks. Brandie Fields had 14 digs, and Crystalyn Bouyer had five kills and eight assists.

Tuscaloosa County plays at Hewitt-Trussville tonight.

Hillcrest 3, Bibb County 0

TUSCALOOSA | Rachel Luiz and Kahtlyn Brown were honored on their senior night as the Hillcrest Lady Patriots defeated Bibb County.

Hillcrest won by scores of 25-8, 25-11 and 25-8 to run its record to 15-9. Luiz contributed 14 assists, and Brown had five kills.

Hillcrest’s Ariel Minor had 12 kills, four digs, four blocks and three aces. Laine Shelton had six kills, 11 digs and two blocks.

Hillcrest will play Tuscaloosa County on Oct. 18 in the Class 6A, Area 9 tournament at Northridge.

 

Northside 3,

Paul W. Bryant 0

TUSCALOOSA | The Northside volleyball team ran its record to 14-0 by sweeping Paul W. Bryant.

Northside won by scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-6.

Northside’s Ashton Welborn had eight kills, four aces and four digs. Haley Thomas had 13 aces, 12 digs and one kill. Kayla Rice had seven digs and one kill. Diana Fuller had seven kills, four aces and two digs. Sam Aldridge had nine kills, four aces and four digs.

Northside plays at Central on Thursday, facing Central and Holy Spirit.

 

South Lamar 3,

Holy Spirit 0

TUSCALOOSA | South Lamar improved to 19-6 overall and 6-2 in Class 1A, Area 9 by sweeping Holy Spirit.

South Lamar won by scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 26-24 and is tied for first place in the area with Marion County.

South Lamar’s Karoline Holsonback had 15 kills, three blocks and 17 digs. Lauren Crimm had 18 assists and 14 digs. Abbi Dollar had five aces and 10 digs, and Morgan Hardin had eight digs.

Karoline Sisson and Andie Gamble had 10 kills each for Holy Spirit (8-17, 4-4). Madeline Whitaker had 23 assists and one kill. Abby Mitchel three kills and an ace. Caitlin Shortall had five kills and two aces.

Holy Spirit play at Northridge today. South Lamar plays Lamar County in Vernon today.
