Northside's Travis named Player of the Week

Northside running back A.J. Travis ran for 344 yards and seven touchdowns in the Rams' win over Sipsey Valley.
If sophomore running back A.J. Travis had scored six touchdowns Friday night, it would have been an impressive performance but his team might have lost.
Travis finished with seven touchdown and gained 344 yards on 24 carries in leading the Northside Rams to a 50-46 victory over Sipsey Valley. His touchdowns came on runs of 58, 45, 22, 10, 36, 24 and 11 yards. For his efforts, Hollingsworth earned High School Football Player of the Week honors from The Tuscaloosa News.
Several other players had standout performances to garner honorable mention:
Berry’s Terrrance "Tank" Hollingsworth ran for 300 yards and scored five touchdowns in a 46-20 win over Brilliant. Hollingsworth scored on runs of 34, 70, 14, 46 and 13 yards.
Sipsey Valley quarterback Garret Lewis threw four touchdown passes and accounted for 400 yards of total offense in the loss to Northside.
Pickens County’s Jermarcus Brown rushed for 315 yards and scored all four touchdowns in a 28-0 win over Parrish. Brown scored on runs of 88, 37, 81 and 14 yards.
Tuscaloosa Academy quarterback Jonathan Plott threw four touchdown passes and ran for a score in Thursday’s 55-23 win over Bessemer Academy.
Hillcrest quarterback Riley Nix threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores in a 40-7 victory over Jackson-Olin.
Pickens Academy quaterback Josh Lewis rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns on runs of 1 and 84 yards and threw a touchdown pass in a 28-16 win over Marengo Academy.
Hale County’s Grant Stevens threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score in a 45-24 victory over R.C. Hatch.
Sunshine’s Keonta Edwards caught three touchdown passes in a 29-27 win over Akron.
Berry’s J.C. Finch scored on interception returns of 44 and 40 yards in the win over Brilliant.
