ROUNDUP: Fayette County outlasts Berry

FAYETTE | Fayette County staged a comeback, trailing by two sets but coming back to win the fourth and fifth sets to defeat Berry in high school volleyball Wednesday.
Fayette County won the first set 25-20, only to have Berry win the next two sets 25-21, 25-21. Fayette County won the fourth set 25-21 and took the match with a 15-10 fifth-set win.
Statistical leaders for Fayette County included Carlee Burgett with 12 kills, 43 digs, two blocks and six aces; Autumn Bonner with nine kills, 19 digs, two blocks and 10 aces; Caitlin Aldridge with eight kills, 18 digs and three aces, and Jacey McGuire with four kills, nine digs, two aces and 25 assists.
Fayette County (12-10) plays at 4 p.m. today at Lamar County.
For Berry, Emma Herren and RayAna Clark both had nine kills, Terra Gwin 14 assists and Tori Vice 10 assists. Berry (9-11) plays at Brilliant today at 5 p.m.

NORTHPORT | Tuscaloosa County beat visiting Hillcrest in three sets, winning 25-23, 25-18, 25-21 in an AHSAA Class 6A, Area 9 match.
Alex Smith had nine kills, two aces and four digs for the Lady Wildcats. Jesslyn McNutt had five kills and one dig. Lauryn Clardy had seven kills, Emily Calhoun had six kills and three digs, and Lauren Sevenish had 31 assists and two aces.
Tuscaloosa County (9-12, 4-2) plays at Central High at 5:30 p.m. today.
For Hillcrest, Ariel Minor had 10 kills and 12 blocks. Laine Shelton had 10 kills, 11 digs and one ace. Lindsey Vaughan had 11 kills, 10 digs and three aces. Rachel Luiz had 16 assists and three kills. Marrah Troutman had 13 assists. Kimberly Mills had 12 digs, and Baylee House had 10 digs.
Hillcrest (14-10, 2-4) plays at Gardendale today at 5:30 p.m.
