ROUNDUP: Hillcrest sweeps Bryant


TUSCALOOSA | Lindsey Vaughan had 17 kills, nine digs and three aces as Hillcrest defeated Paul W. Bryant 25-8, 25-16, 25-14 in high school volleyball Monday.

Laine Shelton added 14 kills and seven digs, Rachel Luiz had 23 assists, Kahtlyn Brown had nine kills, eight digs, seven aces and 17 assists, and Kimberly Mills had 10 digs for the Patriots.

Hillcrest (15-9) will play at Tuscaloosa County High at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

 

Northside 3, Berry 0

BERRY | Diana Fuller had two aces, 10 kills, three digs and a block to lead Northside to a 25-22, 27-25, 25-17 sweep of Berry.

Also for Northside, Sam Aldridge had five aces, 17 kills, five digs and a pair of blocks, Ashton Welborn had seven kills, nine digs and three blocks and Haley Thomas had three aces and 14 digs.

For Berry, Rayanna Clark had seven kills and Brittany Elkins had five kills.

Berry (9-9) will host Oakman at 4 p.m. today. Northside (11-0) will play an area match at American Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. today.

 

Tuscaloosa Christian 3, Tuscaloosa Academy 1

COTTONDALE | Anna Rice had 17 kills to lead Tuscaloosa Christian to a 23-25, 25-18, 26-24, 27-25 win over Tuscaloosa Academy.

Also for Tuscaloosa Christian, Alayna Marchant had 14 kills, Holly Chandler had eight kills and Katherine Turner had 35 assists.

Tuscaloosa Christian (18-6-1) will play New Life Academy in Millbrook at 6 tonight.

 

Tuscaloosa County 3, Bessemer City 0

BESSEMER | Lauryn Clardy led Tuscaloosa County with nine kills as TCHS defeated Bessemer City 25-12, 25-16, 25-7, in a Class 6A, Area 9, matchup.

Also for TCHS, Jesslyn McNutt had seven kills and an ace, Jamie Robertson had six aces and two kills and Lauren Sevenish had 21 assists and three aces.

Tuscaloosa County (9-12, 3-2) will host Hillcrest at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
