Berry's Hollingsworth named Player of the Week

Running back Terrance "Tank" Hollingsworth powered the Berry Wildcats to their first win of the season Friday night. Hollingsworth carried the football 25 times for 336 yards and scored four touchdowns in a 42-33 win over previously undefeated Hubbertville. He scored on runs of 17, 25, 2 and 14 yards. For his efforts, Hollingsworth earned High School Football Player of the Week honors from The Tuscaloosa News.

Several other players had standout performances to garner honorable mention:

-- Adam Gaddis gained 254 rushing yards and scored four touchdowns to lead Bibb County to a 59-13 victory over Oak Grove. Gaddis scored on runs of 76, 17, 61 and 66 yards. Bibb County rushed for 560 yards rushing on 37 attempts.

-- Hale County freshman Blake Williams rushed for 199 yards on 10 carries and scored four touchdowns in Hale County’s 41-21 victory over Cold Springs. Williams scored on runs of 9, 34, 39 and 25 yards.

-- Pickens Academy’s Garrett Estes gained 101 yards on 27 carries and scored five touchdowns in a 41-12 win over South Choctaw Academy.

-- Aliceville’s Jeremy McMullen rushed for 249 yards on 24 carries and scored four touchdowns in a 42-14 win over Sulligent.

-- Sophomore quarterback Seth Franks threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns and scored the winning touchdown on a 1-yard run with 6:28 left as Brookwood defeated Paul W. Bryant 34-30.

-- Cedric Cook ran for two touchdowns as John Essex beat Marengo 34-14. Cook led the defense with 12 tackles, three assists and two interceptions.

-- Tuscaloosa Academy quarterback Jonathan Plott scored on a 1-yard run and threw two touchdown passes to Parker Farley as the Knights defeated previously unbeaten Morgan Academy 42-7.

-- Aaron Dillard of Hubbertville High School rushed 23 times for 233 yards and three touchdowns in the Lions’ 42-33 loss to Berry.

-- Fayette County’s Trae Madison had 126 total yards and three touchdowns in a 31-8 win over Gordo. Madison ran for two scores and caught a touchdown pass.

-- Demetrius Kemp scored on a 1-yard run and on a 90-yard kickoff return in Demopolis’ 41-14 win over Saraland.
