Sipsey Valley routs Holy Spirit in opener

TUSCALOOSA | Shelby Marshall batted 2-for-3 with a double and a triple to go with four runs scored to lead Sipsey Valley to a 22-7 five-inning win over Holy Spirit in its softball opener.

Samantha Hall hit 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Addison Crowell had two doubles with four runs scored. Kristen Sullivan (1-0) pitched three innings, struck out four, walked three and gave up one hit.

Cristina Lopez went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for Holy Spirit.

Sipsey Valley (1-0) plays at Paul W. Bryant today at 5 p.m.
